As an entertainer I'm often given premium cigars as a gratuity or thank you. Over the last couple weeks 2 different Cuban? Cohibas by different high-rollers. It was easy to tell both were fakes thanks to your input here and a good source. What a rip-off. I, of course was gracious, but tempted to let them know, but I didn't. A year ago I wouldn't have known the difference. Gotta order more good ones. Oh well, they say ignorance is bliss, but it sure is cheaper.

Steadily Shine, mosey on over to Holt's in Philly buy their best VSG, PAM or Opus and you will be smoking cigars right on par with any Cuban. And you won't get ripped off.

Cubans are good, Cuabns are bad, Cubans are "eh" just like any other cigar. They ARE different tasting that other cigars, but they aren't ALWAYS the end all, be all of cigars. Remember that before the Cuban embargo when we could buy all the Cuban cigars we wanted they made up less than 10% of the imports in this country. Another 10-20% of cigars used Cuban tobacco, but were rolled here or elsewhere. That left over 70% of the cigars being sold made that weren't Cuban. Even now I have friends in Germany and England that have access to all the Cubans they want and what do I get asked for? "Send a box of Fuente's, CAO's or Padron's." Overseas they do not always have the access to the brands that we do over here and they like smoking cigars from all over.

OK I'm done ranting. And I didn't bash the noob. Wink (Pats self on back...)

I will however bash Papa Rick for mispelling a word that appears at the top left hand corner of this page. It's "aficionado." Big Grin

Now that was funny... Razz

I was surprised to see counterfeit bands for Fuentes and Padrons. Jeesh, is nothing beyond these people.

Pot, kettle...kettle,pot. Hoo ha!
Good job Binder I knew you could do it. And thanks for being brave enough to admit, like so many of us believe, Cubanos are great but not neccessarily the Holy Grail of smoking.

...come in here dear boy, have a cigar, you're gonna go far.....
