My wife finally relented and said I could smoke my stogies in the basement . . . .only if I buy a pool table and put the table in the basement too. I would also want to purchase three leather smoking chairs and a roundtable and put them next to the fireplace. This is going to cost a small fortune.
That sounds like a victory to me. She is making a regular cigar lounge out of the basement. Be certain to get a good smoke eater too or it will all be for naught.

I have a Norelco CAS-1050. It is no longer made. It uses a HEPA filter a foam prefilter and 2 large charcoal canisters. I replace the filter media every 3 months because I smoke so much in the den.
If you are alone in your smoking room, just about any good HEPA filter with a charcoal insert will do, but if you are going to smoke in a group you need something that can handle a large room.
Something that will exhaust the smoke is probably the best.
in the summer I also run a Royal Soverign room air conditioner which has a charcoal filter and exhausts room air. It also has a built in heater for winter use. I have used it when I had the boys over for poker and cigars.
