What's to respect? The fact that McCain has made nice with the same people who, back in 2000, suggested that his time as a POW made him emotionally unstable? That disgusting embrace of religious bigot Jerry Falwell shortly before Falwell's death? His involvement in the S&L scandal, or the thinly-veiled truth that this guy is a darling of just about every lobbyist inside the Beltway?

This is Bob Dole, part 2. The GOP gives it's nomination to a kindly, soft-spoken granddad who everyone in the party agrees has earned a spot at the top of the ticket through his later years of toadying--to people and a philosophy he has been well-documented to loathe. And now he has to spend the next few months reminding us of the maverick senator from Arizona--the guy who thought, correctly, that Jerry Falwell was a dangerous nutcase--without completely alienating those on the far right--the 5% of the population that finds Dick Cheney loveable, but isn't Lynne Cheney. Good luck with that.

What's to respect? Are you serious? If you do not respect John McCain, you are unamerican.
The man sat in a vietnamese prison for 5 1/2 years and was tortured repeatedly. He refused release from his captors because releasing him before those who were there first would demoralize those left behind. I suggest you read his story before you come here and ask "what's to respect"?

Great contribution to the discussion. Now go on a rant about how Republicans screwed us the last 8 years and how stupid that liar Bush is. Roll Eyes

Perhaps you have not learned this yet, a typo is a one time occurence. When it occurs more than once, it isn't a "typo", it's an error on the writers part. In other words, he didn't even know how to spell McCain, which means he probably does not qualify as prepared for this type of discussion. Much like you.

BTW, have you ever brought anything to this forum? I think almost every member has asked you that at least once.

Who are these "most people"??

John McCain is running on an already failed administration's policies. I respect the man for not changing his views and remaining solid even with all the criticism against the Bush administration, but this simply won't get him elected in November. Neo conservatives have ruined the United States relations with most of the world, it's about time someone fixes the mess, and it's gonna be a tough job.

Lucky, where are you? Oh, yeah, you're in Egypt, a whole other country. You have no clue what most Americans believe. You only know what you read on these forums or hear on T.V.

First of all, I don't need a hall pass from you before I come here and ask any question. I posted on these boards long before the likes of you ever darkened CA's forums.

I respect the time he spent as a POW--which is more than I can say for most conservatives, who said precious little when he was being attacked by George W. Bush's slime machine back in 2000. But the guy's a flip-flopper, and I'm tired of hearing about his "convictions". The only "conviction" I see is his capacity to say anything that will endear him to the moonbats on the far right, without scaring the hell out of undecideds--it's a tough job, and I don't think he can pull it off.

And you can stop defending him like he's your first political love: I've read your posts (the venom almost burns the eyes). You're settling, and trying in the bargain to make McCain something he's not--a principled politician.

And look at that: I still feel pretty American.

Does it matter that you've been here since '04? No, do you want a cookie or something?
It was you that said "What's to respect?" I merely answered your question.

I know you are infatuated with the Jimmy Carter election that too was an anything but republican election. But this one is different in those days they did not forget. Today its just yesterdays news. Besides that did not work then Carter did much more harm and no good at all. He still continues too speak and showing us all he is still a fool.

You mean he is being a politician trying to win an election by pandering to two different demographics? Similar to how in one speech Obama wants to negotiate with guys like Ahmadinejad and retreat from Iraq, but the next day he is willing to violate Pakistan's sovereign territory and send the US military in.

principled politician.

Sorry my friend, but that is an oxymoron, on both sides of the aisle.
