SEATTLE - Two soldiers who just returned from a year in Iraq were badly beaten in an attack outside Pioneer Square. But believe it or not, someone caught the beating on videotape. Now, police are asking for your help identifying the suspects.
The brutality of it all was captured on tape outside of Larry's Nightclub on First and Yesler on July 31.
Police say the victims were with two women who'd been groped by the suspects. One of the women threw a hot dog at the suspects and walked away.
They didn't get very far. The three suspects ran after them and began attacking the two men -- two soldiers who'd come home from the war.
The graphic videotape shows both victims getting beaten over and over again, and then after one of the victims loses consciousness, a suspect starts stomping on his head.
Now police want your help in catching these guys.
"We consider them very dangerous," said Seattle Police Officer Sean Whitcomb.
After not getting any leads, Seattle police have just released this tape to the media even though it happened over three weeks ago.
But clubs and businesses we spoke with wonder why police waited for almost a month before making the tape public.
KOMO 4 News spoke with Larry Culp, the co-owner of Larry's, who was in Vancouver, B.C. Thursday. He told us there are several things that really disturb him. He said if police believe it happened at his club, why didn't they contact him until Thursday? And why didn't they ask for tapes from the two cameras he has outside the building?
Culp says he talked with police when he installed the camera, and they knew they were there. And the department should have known the tape is recycled every six days.
But Whitcomb says they tapes they do have are paying off, adding since the release of the video Wednesday night, police have received several relevant tips. While he declined to elaborate, he did say police believe arrests will come "sooner rather than later."
If you know who these suspects are, or have any information in the case, you're asked to call Seattle Police.
Both victims suffered broken jaws, while one suffered a broken arm and both had other broken bones and several bruises.
The people who did this are lucky they did not pick on the wrong soldiers.
Anyway they should be charged with assault with the intent to kill as well as tried in federal court for destruction of government property.

Thank God. It doesn't sound like the beating was because they were soldiers which is what I thought this thread was about before I opened it. I'm sure they will get what they deserve once they are caught. This is almost as bad as going to jail for child molestation.
These pieces of $hit deserve the worst possibly punishment that humans can recieve . That burns my ass to no end. Maybe we should ship 'em to Iraq and then Afghanistan and let the hands of fate take over.

It sounds like the local police are doing a really good job of dragging their feet. They probably were only doing a half-fast investigation until the media got ahold of the story and found out the two victims were soldiers, then decided they better make an attempt. If they would have gotten the bars video camera tapes sooner, the assailants would probably be in jail by now...or better yet...the victims of their own a$$ kickings courtesy of some of these soldiers buddies..

good article, terrible story, but a really poor way to portray prison..... i did a few years upstate, and had several family members that went aay or are STILL away.... prison isnt like that, and maybe if people really knew what went on, they would be more concerned about the physical and mental trama that comes with a prison bid, and not a sexual one...... there is nothing funny about this....

My heart bleeds for them.

You can keep them we don't want garbage like that.
I think it's unfortunate that they even mentioned they were soldiers. The media included that to pump up interest in the story. Not being there, you can't know what happened, but no one deserves the beating these guys took.

I'm sure this will piss people off...but were these guys in uniform? These kind of fights happen probably a thousand times a night across the country. I kinda doubt the guys who beat them up even knew the two were soldiers (not saying they would have stopped if they knew). And what makes everyone so sure it wasn't them who started the fight and then just ended up taking the beating? You guys make it seem like these 3 guys specifically beat them up because they were soldiers...clearly this was just another bar fight that went too far. It's terrible that they got beaten so badly...but almost all bar fights happen because both parties are wanting to do so.
I agree with Sobek, it is only getting publicity because these guys were soldiers and it got caught on tape. Beatdowns like this happen from Philly to LA every day, but don't get publicity. Be enraged that animals like that walk the streets every day, not that it happened to soldiers.
As for the perps, since this is a miliatry themed post, we could put them into service in Iraq or Afghanistan as human mine detectors. If they last 6 months, they are free. I'd rather waste a piece of crud like these guys than a single soldier.
