how many of you younger smokers out there have older NON smokers tell you that you are too young to be smoking cigars. i am 27 years old and all of my peers gimme lines like " only old people smoke cigars" or " what are you doin, arent you supposed to be an old man to smoke cigars?" man it pisses me off. your never too young (as long as you are older than 18) to enjoy one of the finest pleasures in life.

What a CROCK.

I started smoking cigars for real when I was about 16. They were better than cigarettes as you did not inhale and they lasted longer too.

I smoked cigars regularly in college as well.

I'm 26 and have never heard that. I hang out with a work crowd with people from 21 to over 40. Most of them smoke cigarettes, so i usually distance myself and enjoy the aroma of my cigar.

One of the gauges of maturity is being able to make up your own mind what you want to do or don't want to do without caving in to other peoples opions. If you enjoy doing something, and it's legal, take what other people say with a grain of salt and stay your course.

People aren't smoking cigars to be trendy, cool or stylish. They're smoking cigars because they like them. Because they enjoy the experience. Because for about $5 they can spend an hour sampling one of life's greatest luxuries.

Char...

I'm only 25 this month and my boyfriend is 30. We both smoke. I know plenty of smokers in that age group.

Your friends are full of crap. Are we too old to enjoy fine red wines too?

I had my first cigar at 13. A Cohiba with my mom. I think it was a corona but I dont remember the size, but not a so-called "girly cigar".

Never really had a problem with it. I am 30 and have been smoking cigars for close to ten years now. I guess I look like someone that would smoke cigars? I also guess I don't really care what people say or think...

Started when I was 18, the only person that has said the to me was my mom, haha. I find most people at the college I attend are always up for a good cigar and can generally appriciate their finer points; even if they aren't aficionado's. This probably has much to do with where the general population of this college comes from. I think it also has to do with pop culture icons. Many hip-hop icons for our generation smoke cigars quite openly (in fact, many times on MTV cribs the interviewed stars will make mention a humidor or a smoking room in which they enjoy cigars), and I think it is almost viewed as a sign or wealth or better taste.

I've never had anyone say anything to me but I do get a few stares.

When people at work find out that I'm into cigars or come over to see them sitting on my desk they give me a bewildered look. I think because the stereotype is already there that if they someone who doesn't meet that "profile" it looks odd.

When I go to my local shop on the weekends, usually a group of "older" gentleman smoking. I walk in and I get the look of "what's this kid doing in here" Does it bother me? Not really, I know the owners well and they know my passion. Eventually I'll get time to just sit in there and smoke with them.

I also think cigar smoke smells MUCH better then cigarettes.

I had my first cigar when I was 18, a cherry-flavored dog rocket. I wish I would have tried premium cigars sooner and realized my passion for them, oh well. Frown Better late than never. Now I just try to pass for 18. Big Grin

Although i personally didn't start smoking cigars until I was 28, I think that as long as you are of legal age then go for it.

Had I known when I was younger what a joy smoking cigars can be I am sure I would have started much earlier.

Hey,Charlie, now you're getting into a whole other issue, "Which is more important, your fiancee' or smoking cigars?" I'll leave it at that.

Maybe its the tattoos or the fact that I know far more about cigars than most of my "older" cigar smoking friends (28-60) but nobody really says that to me. I will also echo the sentiment that cigar smoking beats the hell out of cigarettes.
