I used to drink Beefeaters in a tub on the rocks w/ lemon, never olives...and I liked 'em 4 to 1 w/ the vermouth actual in with the gin as opposed to just threatening it...
Then, they began to go down like ice water and I figured I better get a new drink or begin my 12 steps...every now and again I'll sneak one in, though...

I like Sapphire but I'm part of the Absolut generation so I usually do a vodka martini, and sure it can be argued that that's not really a martini but I don't believe that.
Either way, I think garnishes play a big part in the drink and gorgonzola or anchovy stuffed olives don't co-exist well with gin. So, when I'm in the mood for gin, I do a Sapphire tini but when I'm in the mood for a martini that eats like a meal, it's vodka and four olives stuffed with something tasty.
What's a 4oz Marteeny? 4 onces of gin over the neighbour's daughter naked body?
Lonely are we?
Nah. Can't speak for the Doc, but as far as I'm concerned, no need to be lonely to be "aware" of the neighbour's daughter. It's not cause you're on a diet that you can't look at the menu.

To answer Steve, I feel for you! I'm happily childless, and can only imagine the challenges of raising a child today. Good luck...
To answer everyone else... Tanq & Tonic with a twist is my poison of choice. Straight martinis are a bit much, unless I'm at home - then it's a nice moderately dry Sapphire 'tini with a twist.
So many cigars, so little time...
