My 35th (Holy ____!) high school reunion is coming up in April. I went to (what was then) an all boys school. Everybody is bringing something and I offered to bring a box of stogies. Most of these guys are probably not regular smokers - or not regular smokers of cigars (the Class of 1971 was much better known for smoking another type of weed altogether). What do you guys suggest? Should I pick a box of middle strength cigars and, if so, which one? I'll pay $150+. How about some type of sampler with a mix of mild, medium and full bodied smokes?

My advise would be buy something short because most will not be smoked. Sure they may light the cigar but that is about it.

I would not spend that much. Perhaps something from the Padron K line, many of which are < $100 for a box. Many of the guys will probably do what Monk said -- light them, take a few puffs, and then throw the majority of it in the bushes.

A nice Torano would hit the spot. 1916, Torano Signature.

Want to spend a little more - Hemmingway Sig. A classic.

if you can find La Fontana. good smoke for a good price. very mild, with a hint of sweetness on the tip. something even non-smoker might enjoy a few puffs of.

I'd go with something smaller and a pleasant smell.(I think all cigars smell nice). If the people think they stink they will throw it away.

Most people that don't smoke cigars think they stink, my wife included. However she LOVES the smell of Ashton Prime Minister and anything from the Fonseca regular line. The Fonseca 2-2's are what I would go with, they are a great cigar, short, and have a good smell at a great price.
Most people that I have been around think Padron's stink (except me - I love them), and I am forced to smoke those outside.

I would suggest preparing a short "Cigar SAT" to give out before handing out any cigars. If they don't know enough to appreciate a good cigar....screw 'em, give 'em a dog rocket!
