With the exception of this last week of April, which has been unusually chilly, the temperatures have been getting increasingly warmer to my delight. As the seasons change, so does my taste in cigars. Inexplicably, I often favor a good maduro during the hotter months. You know the kind, full flavored with a heavier body. Thick smoke that lingers in the warm summer air on a lazy afternoon. The type that may waft notes of earth, nut, chocolate or coffee through the air. And maybe, just maybe, offer up a hint of sweetness throughout.
I have a few favorites, some difficult to find. What's some of yours?
Pardon my ignorance, but this has always confused me a bit. I thought Maduro was the result of a fermentation process, which could theoretically be applied to any wrapper leaf regardless of where/how its grown, including a Cameroon? Am I mistaken? Thanks
all padron thousand series cigars are sungrown. my fav is the maduro which is sungrown.
"Cuban seed tobaccos grown in Nicaragua and Cuba. The wrapper would be from Cuba. The binder leaves would be from Nicaragua. For the ligero tobacco in the filler, he would use two types, one from Esteli and the other from Jalapa in Nicaragua. The other filler components, seco and viso, would come from Cuba, the former from Villa Clara, the latter from Pinar del Rio. That Cigar, he says with pride, would score 100 points." -Don Pepin Garcia

...as Doc already mentioned, be careful with Maduros that are in-expensive. More often than not, they are fabricated wrappers (printed with ink-like substances) made to look like a real maduro wrapper.

I actually just came out of a Maduro Cycle where all I smoked was maduros.
There are a couple of inexpensive maduros that I have enjoyed like the Victor Sinclair Double Maduro, but I like Onyx, Trinidads, Perdomo Lot 23 maduro, Romeo Julieta Reserve Maduro, Padilla Obsidian and the Nat Sherman Omerta. Not sure of the last two are true maduros or just dark wrappers..?
For sake of of someone on a tight budget (like me) can anyone suggest some good inexpensive maduros for everyone to try?

GONZO !!!
An inexpensive maduro is an oxymoron. In other words, a real maduro is more expensive than its natural counterpart. All others are probably fake or fabricated.
