Saw our ex-governor on t.v. this morning. If you haven't seen him lately, he is very thin looking, has two braids in his beard that are about 6 inches long and have beads in them.
The story was that he is looking into his own sit-com.
He is one strange dude.
It was kind of fun when he first became governor since he would give the press a bad time, smoked cigars, etc. But he got really strange as the years went by.
I thought it was interesting that he managed a trade delegation to Cuba while he was governor. I wonder why he wanted to go there.

I don't mind much when polititians are weird, I mean we all have strange sides to us, at least jessie showed it to the world so we knew already what we were getting into. When you sit down and run down the list of all the stuff the supposedly clean and straight senators have been busted for in the past I'll take a guy with some braids in his beard Smile

Kind of unfortunate that Jesse Ventura turned out to be not that great of a Governor for Minnesota.

The same fate "seems" to be happening to Arnold Schwarzeneger in California.

I voted for the guy because I was so sick of politics as usual. He had a lot of innovative ideas but like many politicians, he ran into reality in that we have a two party house and he was from a third party.
Then, he started changing some things in the state that seemed to be more in keeping with what would help his lifestyle more than real political motivation.
Then, he started getting weird. He would refuse to talk at news conferences, his kids were having parties in the governors mansion, and Jesse started getting weird looking.
If you saw him now, it does seem that he is mentally a bit unstable. He is very off the wall in his comments and his looks but not in a good way. Remember, I voted for him, but he looks like someone you would not want in your house, these days.

Pat Buchanan???

I consider myself quite Conservative - some would say to the right of Attila the Hun [he was actually an ancestor of mine].....but I think Buchanan is totally Looney Tunes.

Pat Buchanan is really a one-of-a-kind. He's a true conservative. He's also adamently opposed to the U.S. invasion & occupation of Iraq. He is repulsed by deficit spending. He wants limited government the old-fashioned way, by really reducing spending. He does not have much compassion for minorities. And as far as his wanting to get illegals out of the country...that would be great! But I cannot say that I'd support Buchanan for any major office.

C'mon GG, I'm sure you meant to say that you would prefer the other Jesse - Jesse Helms - right? You seem like the kinda guy who would support his views.

I was thinking he'd support David Duke.

For some strange reason, I could foresee this thread getting nasty.
please note - this is a little harmless cigar forum and will in no way change the entire world.

Ummm....I hate to disillusion you, but the President of the United States does not set the foreign and domestic policies, "screw up" the economy, and all the rest of the stuff you mentioned.....

Yes they take the blame/credit sometimes....but Congress is the place where Laws/Policies/Wars/etc, etc are written voted on, and approved......not the President.

Better get your facts straight before you start calling people morons....

GG, you slay me! Everything that's wrong with the country is the fault of all of the Presidents? So, what about all of the good things in this country? Hmmmm, we enjoy freedoms (religious, economic, social, everything) that no other country enjoys, have one of the most robust economies and highest standard of living, and we're the most powerful nation on Earth. And, I'm not even gonna get into the whole dish / cable, 700 channels on TV, 24 hour shopping networks and the Brad / Jennifer thing which helps to make our country so great. So, if our past Presidents weren't responsible for all of that, who could it be? Let's see now, it must be someone else almost as powerful. Someone else who loves all that gluttonous power and riches - but who could that be..... could it be... SATAN? (thank you Dana Carvey)

Seriously, how did you graduate grade school without understanding how YOUR government works. The system isn't perfect, but it works better than any other nation (current foreign policy excepted). Pick up some books and stop getting your "facts" from the internet or from your friends. I'm afraid, GG, that you've been brainwashed - not educated.

However, I wait breathlessly for your next post. They are priceless.

What I said has nothing to do with whether or not we live in a powerful country or whether or not we have cable television. The way that this country is going with the politicians and the Presidents screwing everything up, we will lose the status of the most powerful country in the world in the next 50 years. It will be the Chinese who will become a superpower. Not us anymore.
Just wait and see.
A good portion of America and its citizens have been dumbed down to the point where they are passive and have no clue what's going on behind the scenes in U.S. politics.
Politicians cannot be trusted. Period.

George you're really one to talk about the american public being dumbed down after some of the dreck that you have posted on this forum... first off find some reliable sources and do your research before you put your foot in your mouth anymore and then look in the mirror and see who really is dumbed down...

Yeah George, tell us all about your sources... like the source that told you that jewish bankers control the world and conspire to keep us all down, or the source that told you the bird flue is a hidden blessing because it'll kill a couple hundred thousand people in third world countries and in doing will make the world a better place for the rest of us... come on man at least give us some breathing room between BS sessions... and by the way watching a couple Michael Moore propaganda flicks about how bad Bush is and how NAFTA is breaking the back of the working man doesn't make you an expert on free trade, which by the way is far more complex than just a couple GM jobs being sent over the border to Mexico, do a little less regurgitating and a little more critical thinking, I think it will serve you well Wink
