Just joined. And just started smoking cigars, I gave up cigarettes because they weren't worth it. No taste, meh.
My first cigar was given to me by my dad (i'm 18) and that was a poor Nicaraguan thing, i forget the name. I jumped around from Monte Cristos to Romeo Y Julieta to Punches and have settled down on ACID cigars. I think their amazing, I don't know how they stack up (in respectness) with A. Fuentes, but I don't care. I think they're wonderful.
The thing is, I've never had a "introduction" to cigar smoking. I've heard there's procedures and things you shouldnt do. My main question, what do you do if you have an un-even burn.

I just straighten it out with my torch lighter, but it could be a sign of under/over humidification or cheap cigars. I don't think many people here smoke acids but to each his own. Welcome.

I hate when a cigar burns all goofy. A few things that I have changed in my humi is: -humidity level from 70 to 66 -what I am gonna smoke I move to the upper deck For when you are smoking: -give it a break on the ash tray. Meaning let the unven part (the part that is not caught up) sit so it is face up. -rotate the smoke when you are puffin away. -slow draw

There's all sorts of cutters and punches, Is there one cutter for every cigar? One that will do the job for every different type of cigar?

no, you can punch or v cut any thing with a rounded end (cant with torpedoes/belicosos/perfectos) double guillotines work for everything (even a single for that matter)

To cut any shaped cigar, you'd want a double guillotine cutter. I prefer my Xikar Xi which I've been using for over a year with no problems.
A lot of good tips for deal with uneven burn. However, you actually want to have the side that is burning too slowly at the bottom, not up top, which seems counter intuitive. Smoke travels upward which slows down the burn at the top. The bottom will receive more oxygen, allowing it to catch up.

Hmmm...if you've "settled" on ACID's, then you still haven't had an "introduction" to CIGAR smoking...
what i meant by settled was until i find something better. My first cigar was a Cuesta-Ray centenario and that thing was awful. I did have a Fuente yesterday and in hindsight, it was pretty good.

Try a Cuesta Rey Centro Fino Sungrown, instead (I like the No. 9 torpedo). You may change your opinion.

went to the cigar shop today. picked up a camacho select, 2 fuente flor fina (it said that on the plastic wrapper, 2 acid 1400cc, and a punch rare corojo. also i got a double blade clipper. a cuban crafters one.
