Maybe a couple of you have heard of a small college we have here, Harvard. Well, Harvard decided to bestow an award upon Jada Pinkett Smith. In her acceptance speech, she decided to throw in a few sentences that reflect her own life and good fortune.
" Women, you can have it all - a loving man, devoted husband, loving children, a fabulous career,'' she said. ``They say you gotta choose. Nah, nah, nah. We are a new generation of women. We got to set a new standard of rules around here. You can do whatever it is you want. All you have to do is want it.''
So, now, The Bisexual, Gay, Lesbian, Transgender, and Supporters Alliance is calling her speech heteronrmative (what's that?) and not sensitive to the issues of sexuality at Harvard. Huh? She specificly made reference that she was talking about her own experience.
Now, The BGLTSA is demanding an apology, and possibly stripping her of her award.
Discuss amongst yourselves.

When I first read this I was speechless. I thought maybe it was a joke but then realized it wasn't April 1st yet.
She should have said - Women/Men/Whatever, you can have it all - a loving man/woman/both, devoted husband/wife/heshe, loving children/or none, a fabulous career,'' she said. ``They say you gotta choose. Nah, nah, nah. We are a new generation of women/men/transgender. We got to set a new standard of rules around here. You can do whatever it is you want. All you have to do is want it.
When will all this nonsense stop?

I'm tempted to take the 20 minute drive to Harvard and conduct a few interviews of my own. See if maybe they chewed on a window sill or lived under power lines as children.

I don't know if these people are so paranoid and really beleive that her speech was directed toward them in a negative way or if it just away to get their cause into the media, So they can complain about how society is so insensitive to them.
Some people/groups just like to complain about the most trivial of matters The "POOR ME SYNDROME" everyones picking on me blah, blah, blah... when in fact there are hundreds of other causes/actions going on in the world that need more imediate attention then stupid SH%T like this that clearly is not insensitive in anyway to the BGLTSA.
Either way it is pretty sad!
Educated Idiots what more can be said.

Here's another one from the college I attended. Drew has 4 a cappella singing groups. One is a Christian group that sings uplifting songs. They were asked not to sing at a school concert because their Christian message offended some in the audience. They will not get any more of my money.

I sincerely and humbly apologize for the offense. In no way did I intend to disparage the fine character of those that call themselves “victims.” I’ve enrolled myself in a “victim” sensitivity class that begins tomorrow.

We have become far too concerned about the feelings of various "victim" or "minoity" groups who clearly care about no one other than themselves. We shouldn't discriminate against them but we can't let them define what is discriminatory or else they will use that authority to perpetuate their protected status. In effect, as long as these groups are allowed to define what offends them, they will always be offended by something lest they lose their reason for existing.
