Last nite my evening smoke was one of LGC Reserva Figurados, , I have been having a few problems with this type of cigar.. I ordered the cigars about 2 weeks ago from CBid, I put them in the Humi and let them set @ 70% (like the rest of the LGC I have), 3 singles out of the five pack I have ordered, the wrapping has split or come apart, the ash was very loose, and I have had better draws. I have had other Figurados and this has not happened. The rest of the cigars in the Humi r fine, I have never had problems with any other LGC brand....So has anyone else had this or just me ?????

Since they are all specific to this 5-pack, it may be possible that they were subject to a dry spell (before you got them) that re-humidification back to 70% couldn't repair. I had that happen to a Partagas sampler, in which just about all (except for the Black Labels, which seem more resilient) exhibited similar cracking and flaky, loose ash. I figured they lost their oils to the point that they would not come back from the dead.

Split wrapper and tight draw would seem to indicate excessive humidity in the cigars. It's the usuual drill; Check your hygrometer, let the cigars sit in the lowest humidity humidor (~65%) and let them sit for a few months before smoking.
I have smoked a couple of the big Flechas Especiale sized LGC RF's and had no problem. In fact there is a pic in my sig link showing one holding a nice long ash.

I agree with BinDer on this one. I used to keep my cigars at 70% humidity level and I had lots of cigars that swelled and split like this and I dropped the humidity level to 65% to 67% and no more problems with this.

I have had nothing but problems with these as well. This past winter. So this tells me it wasn't an isolated issue. The same thing happen. Torch it, and almost immediatly uneven burn, then split. It wasn't only the figurados for me. Their other styles as well. So I've simply stopped buying them. I was wasting too much money. My local was kind enough to replace what I lost, but you can only do that so many times. It's a shame but these were one of my go to smokes...but oh well.
A couple of months ago I stumbled upon a trove of LGC Reservas in a liquor store/c-store/gas station combo (very common here in Big-D)featuring a small closet humidor. I normall never give the cigars in these places a second look, but this one seemed to have a used its limited space to feature some less common and decent smokes -- not too many Macanudos and Partagas per sq/ft. I had not seen too many of the LGC Reservas around my local shops and of course my list of "want to try" smokes included the Selectos de Lujos.
Well I finally fired one up Friday night...and man it was spectacular! Sometimes you just the right cigar for the mood, setting and it all just clicks. I had none of the burn or wrapper/construction problems that were posted here earlier.
The wrapper was a slightly lighter shade -- seemed more like Ecuadorian CT. shade to me -- than the published Ecuadorian Sumatra. The smoke was lush and super-smooth....
I could find a review past posted. Any interest in a review??

I just posted a review of the selectos on the Reviews board -- I was compelled by your post over there BinDer!
I just picked up two of the perfectos (interesting shape -- like 5 3/4 x 46 with very long pointy, head and long pointy - barely-open foot). I'm not sure I picked up right away on how unusual the shapes of these LGC reservas are until I've had them in the surrounds of my home humidors.
The Pyramid is the only one of the trio I have not purchased, but I would be intersted in your thoughts. The pyramid if I recall has a monstrous foot...maybe a 60 ring. Like a classic #2 juiced-up for the DH spot.

The shop I go to has a box of pyramids that the owner found in the humidor after 1 year. He didnt know that he had them all this time and recently put them out. I have smoked a couple of them and found them to be a very good smoke.
