Lazy weekend…. Nice weather for sitting on the deck and wasting away the weekend. Took the kids to the bookstore and while there picked up some light reading for myself. The latest two books in the Dark Tower series by S.King. I just couldn’t help myself; I started reading this series back in 1983. The writer has finally finished the series, so I bought them. Lighter fare then I usually read now days, but a good way to blow the day.
Poured a huge glass of Bakers, a glass of water, grabbed a large AF Don Carlos from the humidor and hit the deck. Nice cool breeze and the sound of my kids playing in the background made for a nice relaxing atmosphere. Two hours and 200+ pages later it was time to fire up the grill and make dinner. Nice thick ribeyes, grilled onions, peppers, zucchini, and squash; a bottle of cabernet… Ahhhh.
Finished the night with a VSG after the kids were in bed. Back on the deck sitting with my Lab under the clear, star filled sky, the temperature dropping and the crickets chirping. For us bourbon and cigar lovers, there can’t be a better time of year than Fall.

Quebecmike, You just reminded me of how dull the Fall is down here in Texas. No leaf change, little weather change. The Northeast, where I am from, was a beautiful sight.

Yes, yes, yes. I too love the fall. Like Doc, I love to sit on the deck or in the hot tub with a good drink/smoke and enjoy the family... It is my favorite season.

Fall is one of those interesting times of the year for me. Living in New England, its the turning of the leaves, winter is right around the corner, which means that snow is coming...but it also means roaring fires in the fireplace, snuggling up close to a loved one, being able to enjoy some of the finer aspects of life. Sadly I don't have a back deck to sit back on, but we do have some beautiful foliage appearing. Guess I'll just have to sit by the closed pool and enjoy the evenings until snow happens. Good excuse to get that outdoor fireplace the wife has been asking for. *Grin*
And Dan, pictures can be arranged, while they aren't the same thing, they can sometimes be a good substitute. Send me an email address some time and I'll break out the digital camera.
dbaranska, I think some of my favorite memories of fall were when I still owned my horses and would get up early in the morning, usually before sunrise, clean, feed, saddle up and go for a ride to the east most point I could get to and watch the sunrise. Something about a crisp morning sunrise.

The village where I live is nestled in the Clear Fork valley. In a few weeks the colors of fall will be spectacular. There will be a nip in the air. Coffee seems to taste better and I can savor hot cider from a local orchard. Perfect cigar weather. Then the reality check....I have to get out the rake.
