In principle free speech exists.
However if you speak the wrong speech and more than a few people listen to you, you can expect government intervention. Sometimes directly but usually indirectly from the side, like a weaslely crab. Yes, even in the free western world and even in the good ole USA. Ask Larry Flyntt, Ralph Nader, and Mike Moore what happens when your big mouth ruffles the wwrong feathers.

"Treasury Department's Office of Foreign Assets Control notified Moore in a letter dated May 2 that it was conducting a civil investigation for possible violations of the U.S. trade embargo restricting travel to Cuba. A copy of the letter was obtained Tuesday by the AP. "

Out of one, many.

I would have no problem with the BS Michael Moore puts out if it weren't called a documentary. I would love for all those who saw Fahrenheit 911 to see Fahrenhype 911. Anyone here seen that one? It shows Michael Moore for what he really is. He loves to edit out the truth, I'm sure "Sicko" will be no different.

If michael moore wasn't such a lying sack of sh*t I'd be more inclined to defend him. But him trying to pass off the films he makes as "documentaries" is repugnant. He is a sleazball of the highest magnitude. He wants to make works of fiction that's fine, wouldn't bother me a bit, but when he tries to pass his drivel off as truth it irks me no end.

The worst part of all this is that there way too many mental midgets who believe the crap he makes is fact when in reality it is nothing but hogwash.

I hear ya. Free speech is one of the many rights I swore to defend when I raised my right hand over 20 years ago. I actually believe in Moore's right to say any thing he wants to, even if it's misleading and politicaly slanted.

Of course, I also believe in my right to call him out as an ignorant S0B scumbag. I know a lot of OEF / OIF veterans who would love to find him in a dark alley and discuss the ramifications of his 1st Ammendment rights.

I have no problem with Michael Moore taking 9/11 rescue workers to Cuba if they were offered treatment that they were not able (or able to afford) here at home...I find it more disturbing that charges against terrorist Luis Posada Carilles--the mastermind of a plane bombing in Barbados in 1976 and the Havana Hotel attacks in 1997--were dropped by a Texas judge and received far less attention....double standards?

It might be fair to hear Mr. Moore's side of the matter:
Michael Moore's letter

Things just aren't ever as simple as they seem, right?

Moore is the Ann Coulter for the extreme left. I must say though, I like Mike more than Coulter.

Coulter is just rude and makes conservatives look bad to me.

Moore is a moron who can't find a real job.

I have seen Fahrenheit and Fahrenhype, the latter is great. it seriously disproves everything... with facts.

I just like cigars, is that ok?

I don't know. The college republicans at my college showed it right when the young democrats ended fahrenheit before the 2004 election.

my friend also downloaded it. I'd just look around the internet. It has to be out there.

Seddowolf,
If you have not seen Fahrenhype 911 I would suggest you watch it before saying Michael Moore sensationalized some things. He out right lied about MANY things, not sensationalized. Let's call a spade a spade. There are so many lies in fahrenheit that I cannot believe anything he says. You remember the seen where W is at a big fund raiser talking about his rich support base? Guess who was sitting two seats over that Moore forgot to show? Al Gore perhaps? Moore edits his movies to fit his "truth" not the real truth.

If you don't like the fact that we are in the war perhaps you should also take it up with the congress who voted to put us there. You can't place all the blame squarely on W's shoulder's, there's plenty of blame to go around. I do not claim that he did things perfectly, but he is not solely responsible.

Now before you think I'm some warhawk let me dispell that. I'm in the Navy and this war has cost me much time away from my family and there is more time in the sandbox on my horizon. I hate being in this war, I'm ready for it to be over, but I have a job to do.

Michael Moore can kiss my A$$, he's wasting the air I breathe. I'll be over there soon defending his right to spread his lies to the bafoons that believe the sh*t he feeds them.

In "Farenheit" Moore showed Bush for the ignorant idiot that he is; and the way this war has turned out Moore looks like a genius compared with our wonderful leader.

I am sure he'll ruffle some feathers in the medical industry with SICKO as well. I am just hoping that while he was down there he smoked some Cubans Smile

Peace

Dead Pirate Roberts , Let me clarify I do not support Michael Moore but I definately do not support the clown in the white house - bottom line to me is if you are involved politics you are full of crap . You sir I fully support you and your colleges on you doing your job and I hope for all you to come back safely. I am just stating the farenhype is nothing more than a polictical BS story from the Bush supporters and of course Michael Moores is a polictical vehicle for Bush non-supporters. Take Care of yourself and please enjoy a good cigar . For bottom line is this is still the greatest country and I would go to extend to protect my rights of an American too. Thanks again
