In the strange days we live in the truth is the best way to get attention these days, common since is too uncommon in politics now. Great picture of Jesse by the way.

The "leave it to beaver" ad. Yea, I like that. Best ad since Willie Horton.

The best political ad I ever saw was one that was never shown. Back in the 70's when I was in college we had an ad company come in and show us examples of ads that neve made it. It was an ad for the Gerald Ford 1976 Presidential campaign. the theme was how Ford was restoring trust to the government after the Nixon years. It showed Ford doing good things and closed with the movie of him in a motorcade and said "Today the president can even ride in an open car through the streets of Dallas"Needless to say it was never aired.

I liked everything except for the 'illegal' alien part.

In response to the political ad regarding illegal aliens.....click below:

The '84 Reagan "Bear" Ad!

quote:
ANNOUNCER: There is a bear in the woods. For some people the bear is easy to see. Others don't see it at all. Some people say the bear is tame. Others say it's vicious and dangerous. Since no one can really be sure who's right, isn't it smart to be as strong as the bear? If there is a bear?

Man, we've come a long was since Ronald Reagan's "It's morning in America" TV spots...now that was great political advertising.

As an ad man, I have to say, this is a very risky spot that will appeal mostly to racists, homophobes and bigots...and that's not the liberal in me talking (I've written politcal print ads for Republicans). It's super low-brow and it's scary that he's going after that kind of voter so directly. I could see addressing them in speeches and with VERY targeted mass media, but to run this on a network affiliate on the 6pm news? Maybe not such a great idea.

Yes. Not a good idea for Republicans....primarily when Latino's are conservative. They just need to be educated and not lied to by the 'elite'.

Thanks. Where on the Statue does it say break our laws? Where does it say do a bum rush on our border? Why can't you see there is a difference between those who come here the right way and those who don't? If you read cigarmanron's words he says ILLEAGALS !!!

I don't think those words on the Statue of Liberty apply to those who want to break the laws of OUR land. You may want to think so but the rest of America does not.

Nowhere that I'm aware of. But this commercial is an indicator of something a lot of us suspect: that the immigration issue (a legitimate one) has allowed a lot of bigots to hide under a cloak of respectability. For every guy like you who's legitimately interested in protecting our national interests, there's someone who just doesn't like Mexicans. Same with the gay marriage issue, and so on, and so on. It's brilliant public relations, but it's destined to fail as this commercial makes clear.

Note to Verson Robinson's campaign manager: take a lesson from Karl Rove, The Rendon Group and Tony Snow. SUBTELTY should be your watchword. The wingnuts can read between the lines, but mainstream America might find that ads like this hold up a mirror to their values -- and the reflection, an ugly one, shows anger and hatred rather than simple, old fashioned family values.

Do you have any proof or is this just your opinion? I know, I know you have the right to state your opinion but I hate it when people state things like it's factual material when it's not. Show me the data and I'll eat my words.

What an imbecile.

If you knew anything about political shifting within the past 2 presidential terms, you would find that during these terms there have been more and more Latino's who are becoming conservative voters. This is in large part due to our becoming more and more educated on the matters of our economy, entreprenuership, family values and the like.

In 2004, 44% of the Latino population voted Republican. As we educate more 'gente', the nubmers will hopefully continue to rise, and this type of educationg will be constricted with the likes of 'restrictionist/isolationist' behavior. People like you make my job tougher in winning the hearts and minds of my own.

Thanks. Roll Eyes

How many misdemeanors do you have? I'm sure you never went over the speed limit or jay walked? Roll Eyes

As a former law enforcement k-9 officer, I found many people who broke the law when they went over the speed limits.

To my knowledge, those who come over commit this type of crime a/k/a misdemeanors.

Again, you forget American history on what happened to the NATIVES of this land. The Native American Indians. Before you attempt to argue your point, please take it upon yourself to educate yourself on what happened to ALL of the Natives. All of them. Every single tribe/Nation.

When you were finding these people breaking the law (speed limit) did you issue them a ticket? If you felt they were drunk did you arrest them for DUI?

Did you know that against the law means against the law? Your job as a peace officer was to enforce the law, not to decide if it was a good law or a bad law.

I don't get your point Dee Dee. Are you saying we should turn a blind eye to certain law breakers? Where do we draw the line?

Not true. Not relevant to this topic either but since you brought it up...again let me tell you again, neither I, my father nor my grandfather when he came to this country ever killed an Indian or owned a slave. If you are black or Indian I owe you nothing. My children owe you nothing. You Dee Dee are not the only peoples who have suffered through out history and defiantly won't be the last. But don't ever try to put the guilt you may try to put on others on me. I won't take it. If you’re an Indian and your family got killed by settlers, well that's life and history. How many settlers did the Indians kill? Once again none of my family were killed by Indians so I could give a ratsass. It makes for good reading and movies.

The biggest killers of the Indians today is fatty foods and fire water from what I've seen!
