I took the liberty to email one of the bidders on eBay. This person was the current high bidder on a glass-top box of Cohibas. I told them, as 1 cigar smoker to another, not to bid on the box.
This person emailed me back and wants explanations. If you would like to add your own explanations, please send them to me at
michaelpr1022 at yahoo dot com
I will forward them to this bidder. Help out another cigar smoker, especially one who does not know the difference with Cubans. This person may one day inform somebody else and the chain of events will continue.
Note, your email address will not be forwarded to this individual.

My mistake, this is not the glass-top box, but still check it out and give your opinion.
Thanks!

Well, why would the tobacco not be for consumption?
I would just tell the guy that never buy cigars like this sight unseen and that Cohibas are perhaps the most counterfitted cigar in history.
The value of the item is in the collectible packaging, not in the tobacco itself.
The package has not been opened, but that the tobacco within is not for consumption.
The collectible tobacco packaging is not available at any retail outlet, and packaging has a value that substantially exceeds the current retail price of that tobacco product in the package.
The buyer of this collectible box must be at least 18 years of age.
My mistake, this is not the glass-top box, but still check it out and give your opinion.
Thanks!

I once did that, and the bidder told me I was an a-hole, that I didn't know what I was talking about, and that he had been buying from this guy for years. He was high bidder on a box of Esplendidos. $200. Whatever.

War is an ugly thing, but not the ugliest of things. The decayed and degraded state of moral and patriotic feeling which thinks that nothing is worth war is much worse. The person who has nothing for which he is willing to fight, nothing which is more important than his own personal safety, is a miserable creature and has no chance of being free unless made and kept so by the exertions of better men than himself. Hello Michael, Yes I have been fully aware of the fake glassed topped Cohiba boxes for a considerable time, you may be confusing my purchase with the two or three fake boxes which are now for sale on e-bay.
The box I intend to buy has the Cuban Hologram displayed on the box lid along with the Shield seal cutting centre through the box opening line, also underside is displayed the correct ink and heat stamps. Just to ease my initial concerns the seller also has proof of purchase in the form of Cuban Government receipt. I suppose there is still a slim chance of being "Mugged"!
I appreciate your original mail and like yourself have a considerable Humidor collection and interest of Cuban, Dominican R, Honduran Cigars etc. Many thanks again
