I just got my humidor and wiped it down with distilled water and put the sponde inside. Now for the humidification element, no directions came with the humi, but do you just pour distilled water into the vents of the "black block thing" (sorry I don't know the official name, lol) Also i've read in previous posts about a 50/50 element and "PG" what is "PG" and do i need a 50/50 element as well? Thanks

If you are going to use the humidification device that came with it, I would use the 50/50 PG solution. This is a mixture of distilled water an Proplyene Glycol (I know I spelled it wrong). The PG helps ward off mold and should be used in sponge-type humidification. Yes, just pour it through the slots and let the sponge soak it up.

But a better idea is to buy humidification beads from Heartfelt Industries. They're much more reliable than foam since they both add and remove humidity whenever necessary and just use distilled water (PG solution will cause them to burst). They're worry free.

Sounds good, I think ill give those beads a shot, they seem a lot easier to maintain than the sponge. Thanks

Just a heads up, in case you aren't using a digital hygrometer make sure to calibrate yours so the seasoning isn't all for not.

Yeah I went and picked up a digital hygro today after hearing about how the analogs are pretty much useless. Thanks for the heads up though

Good call on the digital. I just wanted to make sure your sticks stay fresh!

Well, I wouldn't say they are useless. They do make nifty decorations.

Another question from a new Humi owner - I'm going with the digital Hygro after attempting to calibrate the analog, I had charged the things for the water and also added a little container of the beads is there any problem with doing a combo of both?

This is my main question, is there any particular way I should be storing the cigars within the
Humidor?, this is the one I have, I'm assuming the humidity would be somewhat even throughout the humidor, I also just purchased two boxes & noticed that the RH went up by 5% to 75% after putting them into the humidor. I know this must be from the humidity in the boxes should I just wait for it to even out or remove the boxes?
