OK, well I thought I would test some of your knowledge with the following quiz and just to keep people informed about all the differences of Cigars. I have made 20 questions in relation to C.A. video blogs. When reading the question, just keep your answers on the reply page in the corner or, on a piece of paper, write down the answers then place them on the reply page so you do not see the answers from other people. This is just a fun way to test your knowledge and try not to cheat and we will base this test on your honesty and morality. Once the answers are complete send as a reply and then if you want to check other peoples answers you can do so. I will submit the answers on the following Sunday when I also create a new quiz. Try it out and hope you learn something. The questions will vary from strength and may include everything about C.A. people to history and cigars. Prior to your answers, if you don't mind, just give me a thought how you liked the quiz. Good luck and no cheating.

Questions:

1. In Cuba, what is the most renowned area for growing tobacco called?

2. Three part question- Who learned the `3 match rule` from the CA panel, where did he learn it and who taught this person the rule.

3. How many cigars are sold in the USA each year.

4. What year was the embargo placed on Cuba.

5. What three components make the nomenclature of a hand rolled cigar.

6. True-False, every cigar made always includes tobacco from more than one country.

7. True-False, You have to cut your cigar before you light it, to get the cigar lit.

8. What is Marvin Shanken`s middle name.

9. Litto Gomez has two names for the same cigar. What are the two names and explain.

10. Where does the word Stogie originate from.

11. True-False, If aging a mild cigar, it will increase strength after a long period of time.

12. What is the correct term for the process of the oil on the outside of a cigar, to which crystallizes and forms a white powder substance, but is not harmful to the cigar.

13. Who is the European editor for C.A.

14. What year did Cuba start making Regional addition cigars for specific regions and-or agents.

15. What is a Torcedore.

16. What cigar establishment in New York has a official Cigar Aficionado lounge in it.

17. What are the top three cigars for 2008 that were rated by C.A.

18. True-False, When rating a cigar, the C.A. panel familiarizes themselves with what type of cigar they are smoking and where the cigars are from before final rating.

19. What type of material is used for keeping the growing tobacco plant under shade in Connecticut.

20. What are the four categories that the C.A. panel use for rating a cigar.

Hope you enjoy the quiz, like I said before I will add the answers to the new quiz next week, please don't cheat and just see what knowledge you have and it will be a great way to become a more efficient Cigar Aficionado. Also add in your paragraph what else you would like to see with the quiz. Good luck.

Can't say I care enough to look any of this up. If you are holding a contest, as some here do, what is the prize for the winner?
How does knowing the following make us "efficient cigar aficionados", do you mean proficient?

"What are the top three cigars for 2008, rated by C.A.?"

"Who is the European Editor for C.A.?"

Knowing Marvin Shanken's middle name makes me a better cigar smoker?

Are you still trying to suck up for that job at C.A.?

you know if you put that time in to maybe answer some of the questions you would have been way better off i would say. Also if I was to suck up for that job, I would send exotic cigars everyday to the CA people and offer to clean their house for free in a french maid outfit. That may actually get me farther from the job. Also this is a general knowledge test, you don't have to look anything up if you don't want to and this is just test one FYI. As for the prize, i guess you will never find out what the prize would have been for the first set of correct answers and for second and third place.

Say What?

This is general knowledge...

Shanken's middle name?

The two names Litto Gomez has for one cigar?

The three top cogars of 2008?

Hardly general knowledge at all.

Good luck, just don't get if this is a contest or not.

I remember seeing some of that stuff on the videos, but I dont remember the answers, lol. Other than that, it seems like its not just general knowledge. Also, it looks like your quiz wont be too well received here... Maybe put it on a myspace or facebook or quizster or another website for quizzes?

Good job Smokingjoe, that's the CA I know is on here!!!! And now that puts Steve in second place.
I see you are from Mass, I was there in New England area or Springfield at their Smith and Wesson for training. A great place you have there. Wish I had more time to visit and some of the best pizza I ever had from there.
