I enjoy the Cigar Dave show but am forced to listen to it on his web site. They are painfully sloooooow in updating their archives. Not sure why and they will absolutely NOT respond to email. Are there other cigar shows that are available on the web?
Thanks,

AM

I like the show too and I'm part of his officer's club. His website in general sucks though.

Luckily I can listen to him LIVE here in Tampa on Saturdays at noon. But if I miss the show I have to wait until Monday to listen to it on the web. I don't know why the delay ??

Paul,
How are you able to listen to the show on Monday that you missed on Saturday? He never, ever updates the web site that fast! The latest one now listed is from 8/7/04 and it won't play yet.
I have emailed the web master as well as Cigar Dave himself; done so about 6 times and never got a reply.

Same here. I like the show but unfortunaletly dont live in Florida. So, therefore I am forced to listen to it on the web. I must say he reallllly needs to kick his webmaster in the a$$ and put his butt to work on updating his web site.

I forwarded the thread to him. We'll see if he sees it. The website is horrible. They still have the cigar of the month from June!! Razz

I also forwarded this thread to Cigar Dave. This makes about 10 emails I have sent over the last 6 months. I never heard the first reply. It has now been over a month since the Cigar Dave web site has been updated.
I enjoy his show but his web site is virtually non-existant!
Why have one?

Has anyone listened to the Cigar Dave so on Shortwave? If so what kind of radio do you use to listen to him

The sales manager for Beasley Broadcasting (a radio company that owns 8 stations here) was in the shop the other day. He asked me if I had heard of Cigar Dave and if I thought there was a market for it here. I told him if he brought Cigar Dave to one his many stations I would sponsor the show every week.

I like the show too, and really enjoy his attacks on the "pleasure police."

The only gripe i have with the show though is that sometimes it seems like its the Altadis Radio Show. All he does is pimp Altadis and General sticks.

It seems like some of the best cigars in the world from the smaller manufacturers barely get a mention because all his time is spent recommending Romeo and Julietas. YUK!

I've never heard Cigar Dave, but I find the same Altadis/General bias with CA and other mags. Let's face it, you have to tailor you show, magazine, whatever to accomodate the advertisers, otherwise you won't be around long. I've always said that CA's rating system is slanted towards big manufacturers. If you crank out well constructed, decent looking dog rockets from your big factories with huge tobacco buying/selecting potential, you will get decent CA ratings.

Well I tried to listen at home this week and the freaking 30K dial up couldn't keep working so I could make sense of what was being said. Makes me want to start my own cigar show. The Cigar Guinness show! brought to you by "insert your favorite cigar company name" and Guinness. BRILLIANT! Roll tobacco up and smoke it while drinking Guinness - BRILLIANT!
Really though isn't anyone out there using a shortwave reciever to listen to Cigar Dave? - Any other amatuer radio ops out there? 73's N9KNO

You really aren't missing much. I find the show corny, and uninformative. The guy thinks he some sort of cigar army general and calls everyone that calls in lieutenants; the whole thing comes off corny to the point where I find it embarassing to listen to. His info about cigars is worthless as according to Cigar Dave, every cigar is fantastic. That is likely what bothers me most about the show. There are bad cigars out there, lots and lots of them. So why can't he say that? Maybe he is scared to tick off his sponsors, in which case the show is simply a advertisement. Part of the good life is having discriminating tastes, that's some of what seperates it from the 'regular' life.

On a similar note, this is what bothers me about every single U.S. car publication or show. They never really slam a car around the block. There are terrible cars out there, and the faults shouldn't be down-played. This is why I watch Top Gear on the BBC...best...car show...ever.

By the by, here are some Top Gear clips:

I love Top Gear also, especially the car races, one team on a train and the host in a Ferrari racing from London to the French Riv or Switzerland, funny as hell!

Reminds me of the funniest Top Gear quote ever, he was talking about the McLaren Mercedes "Sounds like the god of thunder gargling with a mouthful of nails."

Really though - the C-D show is fairly good laugh entertainment - not to mention if you're gonna be setting out there smokin a good cigar,
while sipping on your drink, what better way to pass a couple hours... Wink
