The greatest day there ever was, hand down. The course of history of the world was changed on the morning of June 6th, 1944. If I ever make it to Europe, Normandy beach will be my first stop. Has anybody here ever been there?

I've often wondered what things might be like 60 years from now.

Assuming I survive this deployment, I may very well be that doddering old man in the supermarket with the stupid "US Army Retired" hat.

Are people going to point at me and tell their kids: "That's the guy that helped save the world" or are they going to say: "That's the guy that let it slip away"?

I don't know if the men at the time thought that they were saving the world. They probably just wanted to get the job done and go home.

Kind of like us, I guess.
