Was in NYC recently and visited the Davidoff store and was introduced to the Davidoff humidor #7 I think ($1300). Has some sort of unique humidifier and the interior is made out of an exotic wood other than spanish cedar, The lid didn't close in an airtight fashion. I was told that the spanish cedar imparts a "flavor" to the cigars that this other wood didn't and that it shouldn't be airtight so that the air could circulate. This seems to go against the general priciples of humidors. I don't know the particulars of the humidifier but it seemed it was some sort of proprietary system which just needed water added once a month and would keep perfect humidity. They don't even suggest a hygrometer- "throw it away".Expensive humidor- does it deserve the reputation, Opinions please. Thanks

Cost isn't always agood measure of quality or perfomance, although at these prices expectations would be high. I'm just somewhat confused as to the other claims as in my initial post.
