Does anyone have any insight into what accounts for the different volume of smoke from the same size cigars? Night before last I had a St Louis Rey Series G Robusto, last night was a Torando Excaliber (sp) It seemed the Torando had much more smoke... same pull and the same size smoke, why does one seem to produce more volume of smoke.

It could have something to do with the blend.

Different tyoes if tobacco burn at different rates. Ligero is slower burning than olor or seco. If one cigar had more ligero then it might burn slower. This also accounts for canoeing in some cigars. If the roller places the ligero too close to the outside of the cigar, one side will burn faster than the other.

I always try to keep the volume on my cigars turned WAY UP!

i agree with Doc.... amount of smoke is dependant of the blend, and the way the cigar was rolled...

if it's too tight, you won't get lots of smoke... and I tend to find that stronger cigars produce more smoke than lighter ones.

I was thinking about this this morning when I noticed that I was blowing out far more smoke from a 1990 Rocky Patel than I'd ever noticed before.
