Some people are dealt bad cards in life. Some of the most innocent among us. We all know stories. Ryj saw some of these people and it touched his heart deeply.

He doesn't mention it here but I happen to know that he's been investing time, money, and energy to help some of these people-IN THE REAL WORLD-for years.

On the boards, he's been a wealth of information on Cuba and Cuban cigars. Even the CA guru, James Suckling, respects his insight. He's helped many here including yours truly (who unwittingly sent him a fake Cohiba in return).

No one posts thousands of posts without some contention. Ryj can be a bit sharp on occasion. God knows he doesn't suffer fools well. His politics are different than mine but that's true of many posters I still like (you pinko-libs know who you are). Overall, I can say emphatically that this is a much better place with him than without him. Not true of some others.

It sickens me to see that multi-banned psycho Alex, "the Lig", slither in here with yet another false, phony, faked, borrowed handle to lie about a man of ryj7x47's character.

It's quite true indeed. He doesn't talk about it much, but he really helps those people in need, with unwavering passion.

While I appreciate the sentiment, it is quite unnecessary to parade one's personal life in front of others especially in light of the subject matter at hand - and that cuts both for any good or any bad, any rumor or any truth, any benefit or any detriment. Lots of people have taken their shots, and whether true or not is absolutely, positively immaterial, and I will not dignify them by defending or explaining anything, because I have no reason to defend my actions or explain a thing.

But if we could simply get back to the subject matter at hand, I think we would all be better off.

Although I'm "new" here, but not really (I've been around here for eons), I can personally vouch for RyJ, and he is a great guy.

As it is written, who here among us does not have faults...bring him on!

I don't know RyJ, but the man knows a lot about Cuba and cigar. Always make it a point to read his posts. ( Even though we disagree about Celestial Finos! Smile)

Is this a sudden realization or did it slither up on you?

I have to agree with RyJ on this one, this post, while good-natured, is not something I would welcome were I a person of his tenure, knowledge, giving nature and reputation. It just sets the stage for an embarassing love-in or a string of snide replies from others that would normally not get a chance to take a shot at such a good dude. Given the recent similar post about CWilliams being so great, it also lumps RyJ into a group of people who need defending. If there is one thing about RyJ I have observed in the near-decade I have been posting here, it's that he needs no defense. He is always careful to write in measured arguments that always make a point without pandering or stooping to BS. On the other hand, I do think he is great to have around, too. I would just like to see people try to live up to his example, stick to cigars, behave like adult humans and share things.
