... a cigar brand that the Cubans themselves purchase at their local stores (ie. Relobos or Selectos). I know they cost a fraction of the price of MCs and other internationally recognized brands. I'm just curious as to what your thoughts are if you have tried them.

Last year my father-in-law brought me home 2 local smokes. The name started with R, may have been Relobos, I forget.

They weren't bad, a good yard gar. I smoked them while trout fishing.

My dad brought home a box of Selectos. I can't really comment too much. At the time I wasn't into cigars and had no idea if it was good or bad.

Sorry..this post probably didn't help at all. Why am I still typing? I need to just move on. Okay, I'm leaving now

I've smoked a whole bunch of cuban cigars rolled at the hotels I stay in when I'm in Cuba.. there's usually a roller on hand, and he just rolls cigars all night (i guess with his own blend).. I tend to like those cigars., they usually are lighter than the ones I uaully smoke, but they have a "green" feeling to them that you don't get elswhere.. I wouldn't smoke them all the time, but every once in a while, they are good (and quite cheap)

I smoked some peso cigars in Cuba. Most were pretty rough. The Selectos especially so. A couple, though, were not bad. Unfortunately my last rip was in 2003 & I don't remember the good one's name. They were bought in the town of Pepito Tey, Cienfuegos Provence.
