Last night was my second anniversary and we celebrated with the missus in a nice restaurant. Suprisingly the weather was not too bad, and after dinner we sat on the the restaurant's garden to have a drink (it part of a hotel). I was glad I got a Lancero from a 2004 3pack I bought from Barcelona airport. This is one of the best cigars I ever had. started slightly nutty, and then became so complex, myriads of flavours twirling in my mouth after each puff. I am not big fan of cohibas, but this one is a true masterpiece. Paired with a big glass of Balvenie Thirty, in my book one of the finest non-Islay malts (I am an Islay sucker admittedly...). Great food, nice weather, great cigar, great malt, even greater company, for a few hours last night I was in heaven.
i still have a few lanceros from a box I had bought back in 1998... and with the years.. they have become stellar.... with predominant tones of honey... they are simply delicious....
Ah the memories of Cohiba Lanceros. Four years ago I wrote: "I have 3 left from a 1996 box. The thought of smoking the last of these brings me to my knees. They are like smoking a cloud: smooth, creamy, great medium flavor that 8 years of aging has brought to a mellow complexity. Great with a nice 18 year old single malt. What a two hour pleasure these are. They are a tribute to what Cohiba's can be all about. A true 10." Wish I had one left to have enjoyed on my 20th Anniversary a couple weeks ago!
