To the Vets:

I am in NO WAY AT ALL trying to replace what RyJ did with the trilogy. My intentions were simply to collect the information and centralize it for the newbies. I know I benefitted from the info in the Trilogy as well as many of the vets and regulars on this board. This new/old info (I will not refer to it as the "new" trilogy out of respect for RyJ) is for the GENUINE people out there who are here to enhance their knowledge of cuban cigars and cigars in general.

I do realize there is an infestation of trolls going on here. However, since my choice was to stay, I might as well make a genuine attempt to "rebuild" what the trolls have attempted to break.

I am not trying to do this alone and am not looking for any accolades. Just simply trying to make the place what it used to be. A place where we can talk, laugh, argue, debate, and at the end of the day, have a good smoke.

I want to thank all of the members who have helped maintain the integrity of the C&CC board.

You know, some of the other sites post this stuff right at the top of the forum. It sure saves everyone a lot of headaches when that is done. I don't understand why the Admin. can't work with us on this. It almost seems like they are asking for trouble by not doing it!

Excellent point. At the least, the "policies thread" should be permamently stuck in the #1 spot. Even better, have it linked to a document, like the FAQ, at the top of the page.

IMHO, it should be more formal and easy to find for new members. Having such information in threads just like other posts doesn't give it much weight.

Just my $.02.

Bravo and thank you for taking the time to heal what has been ailing!

I may be speaking for a lot of newbies when I say the following:

I've been reading this board on and off for close to three years but never registered. In the past, I often read posts by RyJ and others who had really sound things to say; and not just about Cuban cigars but about Cuban politics, culture, etc. Now not being one who belongs to any forum what-so-ever, I never really thought about forum protocol. And I never really read tons of threads; especially, ones that didn't interest me. So when I came on board, I just assumed that I could post away - new topics, the same worn questions - in hopes of being accpted with open arms. Heck, I didn't even know what a troll was! Right away, I was hammered and really didn't understand why so harshly so. RC and I battled for a while and I got reprimanded by CA. It was then that I decided that I'd cool my jets and try to figure out why I was having such a difficult time.

That brings me to now. I didn't log on at all yesterday and when I logged on today, I felt as though I'd come to a different world! There were lots of posts of great new topics! Then I read the threads about protocol and trying to establish a grand community again and then it all sunk in!

I gotta let everyone know that I look forward to this forum and learning about new things and peoples experiences! Now I get it! Duhhh!

The newbie rules posted made a lot of sense and if they were in plain sight from the get-go, I truly believe many would not fall into the same pitfalls that I did!

Keep up the good work, gentlemen!
