I dug these out since the last one I had was not as complex as I remember them, although extremely smooth. I figured I had better smoke them while they still had Punch at all. Well, I was pleased to see that there had indeed been a smoothing, but I was wrong about them losing their character. Started out very mild, with enjoyable toasty flavors. After 1/2 inch, it warmed up and started to release some nice toffee tones and rich tobacco flavor. When it was halfway gone, the first hints of Cuban twang came rushing in and stayed with me til the end, which was right below the band. I looked up at the clock, and two hours had passed and I was shocked that I had been puffing that long, no relights, no burn problems. While I have still moved these way up in the rotation with 9 left to go, I will leave the second box unbroken without too much apprehension....at least this year.

Had one on Saturday and it was excellent. Have maybe two thirds of my original box left. Have had burn problems on a few, probably due to how source stored them. Love the toasty, woodsy, orange, creamy flavoring. Kinda like a tobacco Grand Marnier.

Kind of a cliche' to say that when they are on they're on, but this box has not yeilded up two cigars the same since i broke the seal. All of them have had underlying similarities, I mean I could tell blindfolded which cigar they were out of my collection, but some have exploded with the EXACT flavors I am looking for in a CC, and some have just been refined and good. Actually alot like the Sig 6 in that regard. I don't think I am capable of detecting orange or dried orange peel, maybe I am missing the relationship, failing to make the connection.
I know alot of people say it is in there. But of the two times I have tasted "the bean flavors" once was with this cigar, and once with the Sig6. And oh, snap, it just hit me...both of those instances, I was drinking rum or whiskey...$hit, now I understand why people drink their scotch during a smoke. Well, I always knew, but I am more of a liquor owner than a drinker. And I always thought it would be better to just drink water or Coke, to get the pure flavors....F the pure flavors!

I remember the first time I picked out a distinct flavor in a cigar. it was vanilla, and I was smoking a monte #2. that was years ago, but I never forgot that. Smile

Coffee and spice are dominant flavors. Here's my completely personal flavor analysis of my favorite brands:
Boli: full, espresso, sambucca, black pepper
Part: full, espresso, blackberry brandy, red pepper
Cohiba: med-full, cappacino, cinnamin, vanilla, white pepper
VR: full, earth, coffee, toast
MC: med-full, coffee, mocha, toast, earth
Upmann: med-full, coffee, mocha, earth, toast
RyJ: med, tea, nut, toast
Punch: med-light, tea, orange, nut, vanilla
Hdm: med-light, sweet tea, butterscoth, cream

I bought a cabinet of also Punch Churchills from Nov 98, and I have to say they are excelent, very good draw, and are now smoking quite mild, creamy taste all the way.

Although I was first dissapoined when I bought the Cabinet Box since the cigars had a very pale wrapper, ive learned to really like them, since they burn even and almost never go out.

I still have like 35 of these, and think that maybe just now they are in that perfect stage for smoking, already 8 years.
