How long have you had that in your humidor? Or did you just receive them?
It's rare that I smoke a cigar of this size, Holidays, anniversary, etc...The only Esplendido that I have ever had (1 on Easter '02) was from a '01 lot. I don't remember the box month or code.
I remember, after smoking it, thinking "now I know why everyone talks so much about this".
Has your experience with Esplendidos alway been as good as that one?
Oh, ya, What did it taste like?....just kidding

I've had it since 2001 - a gift from a friend, ironically, at or about the time Hurricane Michelle ripped through Cuba (I can't believe it was that long ago!). I find the Churchill size to be ideal in terms of complexity, flavor, strength, character, heft, comfort in my hand and how it smokes, and it is my favorite size. If I don't have time for a churchill, I like the corona gorda, at a 46 (average) ring gauge (as opposed to a 47 for the standard julieta/churchill). Over a 47 or so ring gauge, and I find that the cigar is not comfortable for me, although I do like the siglo VI, and I guess I can force myself from time to time to smoke a DC ( ). The pyramid allows you to smoke a large ring gauge but with a smaller head to make it more manageable to smoke...I like them, too, with some of my favorites (fwiw) being the Hoyo Pyramid EL, the Dip 2 and the Monte 2 (not that I would avoid the Upmann 2, but I definitely prefer it less than these others).

Been a Long time (my part) ... Glad you enjoyed. Plus I like your direct approach as described. Pretty much saying it all. I myself have a box 5 months younger(FEB02 OSU) Ahhhhhh what the heck.

Last purchase - 3 boxes SLA May 03. Bought early this year (January). Immediately tried one out of the box and everything was there - burn, flavor, strength, and balance. Initially bought just one box, but after trying that first initial stick, I went back and bought the remaining 2 boxes of the same batch code.

I've learned that when you find a good batch that meets all your criteria in what you're looking for in a cigar, stocking up is a good idea. It's like when you find a good wine, you buy cases.
Anyway, it gives you a little more leverage to get a volume discount!

Yani is right about stocking up when you find something good. That way you have enough to be able to age them. There are indeed many similarities to the enjoyment of Cuban Cigars & fine wine.
Yeah, I got a box of Hoyo Pir. EL at the RyJ store last November and after smoking a few I really like the cigar so I recently purchased two more boxes to age. Never know when they'll be gone so might as well stock up if you can.

Yes, the tobacco duties are high in Singapore, currently at US$150 per kilogram and climbing every year. I have found the overall quality of cigars pretty decent as most of the shops are quite aware of proper storage guidelines. However, when you find a good shop that values you as a customer and is willing to pass on savings, as in the case of box or multiple box purchases, then it's probably a good idea to continue developing that loyalty. My shop will even deliver to my house if I request! I think that's pretty solid customer service.
