There is a lot of talk on this forum about US citizens trying to get CCs. Some try to get online CC sources while others discuss smuggling sticks in through customs. I wonder though, if the US customs department really cares all that much about it. With resources stretched so thin because of the threat of terrorism, the number of cigar policemen must be pretty small. People here talk about a "watch list", but has anyone ever actually been on one? PS, I'm not planning anything illegal, just starting a discussion thread.

I don't know about a watch list, but I know more than one person on here received a letter from OFAC instead of cigars. I'm sure the cigar police aren't standing like a wall on our shores, but the ones that are there seem to be catching some packages. Besides, I'm sure if they were on a watch list, they wouldn't know about it...it's not something ATF or OFAC is going to publicize. Stupid and usless law...yes, but one none-the-less until someone in Washington wakes up and sees how stupid it is.

Ask some of the people who've had to hire attorneys because they've received letters from OFAC. Or the guys in NYC recently who are in jail because their cigar lounge sold Cuban cigars under the table.

You know, a great way to mobilize law enforcement is to make them look bad by suggesting that they don't care about the law.

Good post. Too bad prudence and good judgment are in such short supply on this board.
