You ever had Abita TurboDog? Hands down my favorite darker beer. Hard to get a hold of but an excellent beer. Curious if any else here has had one.

When you come to Canada try Rickards Red, a mighty fine brew as well!

Sierra Nevada Pale Ale is one of the very best; especially on tap. Their Porter is also fantastic, and complements any cigar beautifully (also be on the watch for their Big Foot when it is available--spicy and malty, and great with gars).

Those in Qebec province will undoubtedly (and rightly) recommend Fin du Monde, Blanc de Chambly, and Maudite; all from the same brewer in their province. The brewery keeps alive an outstanding yeast, that makes all of their ales delicious. I normally prefer hoppy ales (Sierra Nevada Pale Ale, Vermont's Long Trail, and New Hampshire's Smuttynose Pale Ale), but Unibrau in Qebec has a yeast that makes even "hopheads" like myself go crazy.

the pale ale and the porter are two of my favorites, but if you run across a Dead Guy Ale, give it a try, a little pricy but a good change of pace. haven't found anything to beat a SNPA though Wink

RyJ hit it, Anchor Steam is killer beer! Brewery is right here in SF too, owned by Fritz Maytag of that famous family. He's now into wines too although I have not tried any.

I've had Turbodog it's good but I'll take a cold Anchor Steam over all any day.

And a good aged Sig III floats my balsa...

Another one is Gordon-Biersch Marzen...the trilogy of California beer!!

Anchor Steam, GBM, SNPA. There are great beers in the world, but to me, these are in a whole different ballgame. If you're ever in Vegas, Gordon-Biersch has a restaurant and on-site brewing facility...it's really good. And they sell it at PacBell Park along with Gilroy garlic fries. A Sheboygan dog with grilled onions? Barry WHO?

LOL! You can always tell when someone in your section gets those fries! Funny to see all the heads looking around for that smell.
