Just curious as to what some of your habits are when it comes to buying stock to age.
There are a few sticks out there that are at a level they haven't reached in years (according to some).
Have you increased your buying now just so you can put some of these away for 5+ years?
Im looking to do that with a box of RASS and BBF but I kinda feel like next year there will be even more vitolas with the same accolades.
Are you treating this as a special time or do you expect this to be the norm moving forward for most brands?

I can understand why some folks might be considering stashing away great vintages. i have been guilty of falling in love with a box on the shelves and taking one with the same box code and throwing it in my locker.
i wish i had stored some more '06 mag 46 and boli rc.
sadly, 1 box of each was not nearly enough.

cheers

Yeah...I must confess that I can't bounce back like I did just a few short years ago; the music I listen to is beyond what the youth of today consider golden oldies (sorry, but I still think Clapton is G_d like with a guitar); and all of a sudden, mini-vans are looking SWEET!

Buy what you like to smoke. I wish we could talk about cigars in terms of great vintages like wine but it's not the same. Cigars are all over the place, one box great one box good one box mixed, it's enough to drive you to drink! Rob says the RASS and BBF are great right now and he opens hundreds of boxes so he should know. One of the reasons I never have my boxes opened before shipping, to paranoid they won't send me a box of jewels, they'll keep them for someone else. I'm lucky, I've finally built up a five year supply of cigars so everything I buy can get some age and I have something to live for.

Buy as much as you can!!!

These days, my "put away" purchases have more to do with buying discontinued cigars that I really like than buying for the year in which they were rolled.

I have one humidor with about 60 Cuban cigars, which range from 4 to 13 years old.

probably 75% of what I buy is for medium term storage of 2 to 5 years.

You guys think it's marketing hype? It doesn't seem to be affecting your purchases.

I like your thinking. And agree with it.
I always buy and store, but, to your point, I am buying and storing more. Not because I'm thinking this is a vintage year, but simply because I want to stock up on as many embargo cigars as possible before the prices go up and the quality goes down.

Um bruh, that's why God invented coolers. They're cheaper than a typical lunch in NYC. What's the problem?

I agree 100%.
I keep stocking up and find myself reaching for those 2006 while the 2007 and 2008 boxes rest.

All others that I buy in singles (like LE/RE), I just never touch until there is some great event or something to celebrate.

It has been easier to age cigars since I cut down from 20 cigars a week to max one a day. And since I have started buying a few puritos for everyday smoke thus leaving the big vitolas in the humidors for special occassions.

Out of one, many.

Seeing how I only smoke maybe 8 cigars a month and I buy a lot more than that I have no choice but to let mine age. Plus just about everything I buy has 2-4 years age already, except newly released ELs.

I have a few boxes now and am definitely letting my fav's age. And if I find something I really like I get enough to have at least a few sit.

but like many here , I have found some stuff with a few years on them and try to stick to burning them. I now can definitely tell when a stick is too young , and make a note as two when to come back to it.

Too late. Prices are already way up. But not to worry. We won't be seeing Cuban cigars on shelves of US stores for a long time. Too many legal hurdles to pass, first.
