Hello all, I recently bought a box of these cigars and all the seals and labels and bands etc... looked legit. The only thing was the outside seal under the Habanos log, the Edicion Limitada said just that, Edicion Limitada and didn't have a 2003 on it. Is this okay or do all the Edicion Limitada box labels have to have a date?
On the back the factory code was stamped with the initials EAT, has anyone ever heard of this code? I've checked a lot of different sources and can't find it. I know the factories change codes frequently so it's possible no one has heard of it. Also, I compared it to another one purchased form a legit swiss dealer and mine was slightly larger than the other. It is the same year and size. I expect small variences here and there but honestly am new to buying cuban box's. I've always been in London or Paris when I bought cubans before and never really worried about their legitimacy. I've been smoking for about 10 years and sitting at twenty four. I enjoyed the PSD EL#4 a lot regardless, the pre light aroma was superb, the wrapper dark and oily, they had cuban characteristics, tripple cap, grey ash that held halfway before I knocked it off, and the after taste was fantastic. I guess all that matters in the end is if I enjoyed them, and I did. But I would like to know if my dealer is legit. Any comments would help, I appreciate all your feedback.

the 2003 PSD EL was a 2 . . .not a 4. so i'd go with fake, and factor that on to the fact that they are a different size than the smokes you bought from your other "legit" source. doesn't sound good man. sorry.

I don't know what I was thinking...It's a Gran Robusto size, the #2. They are a powerhouse, and the size difference wasn't even a quarter inch, it was smaller.

if the size difference was even noticable, i'd rule them (or you other box) as fake. they will always be exact.

First off these should come in a SBN box much like an oversized SD4 SBN box. If it comes in a dress box then it is fake. The Edicion Limitada sticker should be below the Habanos chevron however the four boxes of SD2's that I have all have the year 2003 on the sticker right below the words Edicion Limitada. As far as factories go all the boxes of SD2's that I have seen (which is only about 10) have had one of three factory codes: LLN, KMM or GKI however it is very possible that other factories also produced this vitola.
Hope this helps.

The only thing I can add to that is that EAT is widely held to be a Partagas factory code from WAY back...like 99. So I would say that the cigars are questionable. Did you get them from Spain online?

No, they didn't come from Europe. The thing about it is He'll send them to me first to check them out and if all looks well then I'll send a check. So it's up to me if I keep them or return them depending on if I feel they are authentic. The box code has me a little worried, as well as the Limitada date under the Habanos sticker. I tried them though and they are fantastic even if fake. It would just be nice to know if they are the real deal. Thanks for all you your help.

He sends them without payment? Very unusal and not terribly wise.

To quote the great Groucho Marx when he was asked by his wife to quit smoking cigars at home: "No,but we can remain good friends."

That is the one thing that makes me trust this Guy. I get to check out what he sends before I send a check. So I always sample what I get. I am new to the whole CC Box game, so any imput would help. I work in the cigar industry so I suppose he trusts me. From everything I am learning so far is that Habanos seems to do what they want and you never know what to expect. Thanks again for the responses

Any EL's with an EAT code just makes my fakes sensors go off. But you said they tasted alright, so I guess you are going to keep them anyway, eh? Unless you can send a partial box back without a hassle. I would never want to state a "fact" on cigars I could not see, but again, a 99 code on a current release?

I recieved a good price, good enough for my coworkers to think they're fakes on the basis of price, even though they think they are real by flavor.

I've seen EAT codes on boxes from the Partagas factory before. I have PSD4s with EAT Nov 03 codes on the box. Also, the Edition Limitada label on the front under the Habanos label does NOT have the year on it. However, the bands on the cigars all have the 2003 year on the Edition Limitada band. All other box labels and seals on my boxes conform to the new markings, including the Cuba hologram on mine. In addition, mine also passed the blacklight test on the serialized label.

If someone is doing this much work to counterfeit and producing cigars of the quality that I'm getting, they deserve the money!

too many things add up, slight difference in cigar size, box code concerns and an apparent price that's too low. I don't know what the price of these was in Cuba, but i'm sure you can find that, compare your price to that. if you price is below that, then that spells trouble.

But again, if you like 'em, then enjoy 'em.

Flash- Get your info correct before you post it. ALL Edicion Limitadas from the 2003 series HAVE the year 2003 under the words Edicion Limitada. If yours don't maybe you too are buying fakes.

They ARE ON the box on the Edicion Limitada sticker. I have boxes of PSD2's, Hoyo Piramides, RyJ Hermosos, Monte C's and Cohiba DC's in my humidor all from LCDH and all have the 2003 under the words Edicion Limitada ON the box.
