Anyone know more about this?

I agree with ryj on the EL's being a "brand" all to their own. Next up is the Reserve and the Gran Reserve. Scheduled launch is Feb 2005 for the Partagas SD 4 Reserve. The EL's are 2-3 year old wrappers. The Reserve is supposed to be ALL 3 year old tobacco. The Gran Reserve is ALL 5 year old tobacco. Nice.

Sounds like another ploy to separate me from my money! Wink Gonna be expensive? What difference than buying some 2004 PSD4s & sitting on them for 3 years?

I was thinkin the same thing. Ask your vendor about older stock or just sit on your smokes.

Only a couple of years ago, they had shortages of tobacco. So where are they getting this 3 year old tobacco.

Like the EL's, they had a warehouse full of wrapper, mostly H92, they temporarily used and quickly stopped using on their regular line, because of all the complaints from smokers. They switched to a different hybrid for wrapper.

Then, considering this was in effect, rejected tobacco taking up speace, H&F comes up with this bright idea and convinces the Cubans to use it on new line of cigars, EL's, and charge a premium for them.

Who says, Cubans don't know anything about marketing..... jeje

If they REALLY knew how to market they WOULD HAVE charged a premium. However, the cigars were priced comparably with the regular lines. In some cases, even LESS! You used to be able to get a box of Cohiba Pyramid EL for around $200, when anything else in the Cohiba line with that much tobacco and that nice a presentation was MUCH more.

The aged tobacco is being stored at the Comercial La Vega warehouse, also known as La Unidad Comercializadora de Tabaco en Rama Comercial La Vega. Is it time for a midnight run?
