Saturday night we were experiencing hurricane force winds. Fortunatrely, we have a closet built for this purpose (reinforced concrete walls). Put the wife, the dog, the parrot and, my humidor in there to ride out the storm. Glad to report that all survived unscathed.

Glad to hear you survived. I hope your electricity won't be out for too long.

Happy you're safe. Same for the family (wife, dog, parrot and humidor). Smile

looks like you guys might have #3 on your hands, 'cane Ivan. Hopefully it misses everyone, although the models are putting this storm right over Cuba and possilby on to FL.

Stay safe. . .

Hard Ash:
Why are you such a hard Ass?

Our power was out from Saturday 1:00 PM until Monday 7:PM. Note the date and time of my post.

LABEXEC, you posted at Monday 12:40 PM that all was good, came out of it unscathed. Now you're saying your power wasn't turned on until later that evening at 7:00 PM. I guess back-up electricity could explain it. But when you say unscathed - it implies you have no hardships.

I just found rebeljohns message a little funny that he would wish that to you over an electonic medium, if your power was out.

Hard Ash:

What is your problem?

I never made mention of hardship nor was I complaining. I was simply relating the events of the weekend and the fact that we experienced a hurricane. It was a lighhearted look at what could have been a much worse situation.

By the way, the post was made at my office, which did not lose power. The house was without elctricity from Saturday until Monday evening. If you have a problem with that, you need to get a life.

LABEXEC, my original comments were intended to be lighthearted as well. There's no point in us continuing down this path.

Hard Ash:

No hard feelings. We escaped the brunt of the storm and the damage to our house and office were minimal compared to other parts of the state, although it was pretty scary for a while

I don't know if you have ever expeerienced a hurricane but it is not something to look foreward to.

Sorry if I was a little harsh in my responses. I Smileust didn't know where you were headed.

I trust we can go on from here and have some pleasant future conversations and enjoy good Cuban cigars.

No problem LABEXEC. I've been through a couple hurricanes while I lived on the east coast and maybe 20+ typhoons during my fours years on Okinawa. I know how these storms can wear on you. And for what it's worth, my oldest works for UPS in Tampa and I have another boy starting college in Tallahasee (both in Frances' path). So I've had my concerns for that area, too.

I hope Ivan stays clear of Florida and gives each of you a break. Take it easy.
