Now normally when someone tells me about a plugged Cohiba, I say well they are fake, not question about it. But these Cohiba Lanceros I bought in LCDH myself. Had them in my possesion since the begining.
And they were plugged then and they are still plugged now. They have the old label, and at first I thought they were to humid from being in LCDH humidor at 70% RH, took them down to 65% RH, and they were still plugged, changed them to a desktop humidor took them down to 62% RH.
Just as bad and just as plugged, I know that a lot of bad habanos came from 1996 to 2000, ive had my share of them, but I had figured that 2001 was already passed that.
I never was a fan of Lanceros, I doubt I will ever be, im still looking for the Double Lanceros that Saddam Jr. Smoked, but for these ones I think I will give them to my cigar label lovers that think Cohiba is the best because of the yellow label, and we all know we have friends like that.

Thats very odd. I have a few boxes from 01', 02', and 04'. I brought some of the 01's back with me, and they are smoking great. Looks like you just got a bad box. Im sorry man, a Lancero with a few years on it, is a dream come true.

Sorry you had this experience. Lanceros are my favorite vitola within the Cohiba marca - a brand which I think has its place among all of the others, and which I find very enjoyable when I'm in the mood for the profile and flavors which it offers.
IMO, 2002 was the first relatively safe year when it comes to construction issues. I have or had plenty of plugged cigars with 2001 box dates - perhaps the most disappointing was of box of Upmann Monarchs. There's no earthly reason for a Julieta 2 to be plugged.
I like both Lanceros and Coronas Especialies - there are not very many cigars with 38 RG that I can say the same about them. Never smoked any of those older than 2004 though.
Roberto, sorry to hear that. I know what a bummer it is when you like the flavors and the stick is plugged.

i have a few sticks left over from a box I had bought in 98, and I have to say they smoke superbly.. so creamy, with lots of honey notes...
tell me.. when you look at the foot of your 01's.. do they look overly packed ?? if you roll the cigar between your fingers, do you feel some hard and soft spots ?? or is it consistent ??
