Hello

Long time amateur here, tried ( and still trying ) new cigars regularly; I was able !!! to go around Davidoff for many years but tried two last week. I found that the draw was most unpleasant and the taste easily surpassed by ''common'' cigars, like Thomas for example. Any similar experiences from your part or was I simply not receptive twice in two weeks ? ( Or maybe I should have kept going around it longer Hahahaha )

Constructive feedback and personnal views and opinions always welcomed.

Pale grey smoke rather than a nice snow white quality , tough to draw, really tough to draw and rather blant taste, for a top of the line cigar, and my source is reputable enough to be ''almost'' sure it is genuine

"Almost" is good enough for me... Welcome to the forum though. I have no clue what your asking here man, Davidoff doesnt produce cigars out of cuba anymore.

Thank you for your reply.
Almost !
It reminds me of a Churchill coined phrase, ''I am a man of simple taste easily satisfied with the best ''
I agree with a subtle hint saying Cubans are not supreme anymore, and Cuban originals made elsewhere are not to be confused because of name or cigar band...
My question was to see if others have had some disappointments with Davidoff, wanting to ''reassure'' myself my opinion is not a temporary or an isolated one...

oo7, still not really sure what you want to know, but I've never had a Davidoff, they are too expensive for a NC. Try asking this question elsewhere... this forum is for cuba and cuban cigars. Also try a search on this site for Davidoff.

Thread was actually elsewhere but redirected by administration...I agree Davidoff's are quite pricey, whence my concern about my opinion of them. I wont stick to them because of their ''reputation'', but threading to see if others experienced the same thing or as a ''little warning'' to others tempted by them.

With such a famous handle why not try Cohiba Esplendido?

Davidoffs are overpriced to me. Not entirely complex or flavorful enough for the bother, but for what they are, they are very good cigars. I have never had a Cuban Davidoff, but people pay extreme sums of money for them and think they're the best cigars ever...

Awkwardly, I can relate to this ''cigar band veneration'' and the commercial propaganda orbiting around it and the ''Swiss-ex Cuban'' perfection of days passed...I have a similar opinion of Rolex watches: Nice look, almost mistic, praised by all often without foundation, Rolexes are the worst of the best, sort of like Davidoffs...

Dominican Davidoffs are rather mild and bland IMHO.

So JB,

Is this thread about smoking Dominican Davidoff's or Cuban Davidoff's?

Actually about Dominican Davidoff's since that is where they are produced; Do you have a source for Cubans ? My initial question was to see if others have experienced disappointment with Davidoff cigars, or does its reputation solely rests on its Cuban origin !

I don't think the Cuban alure has anything to do with why the Dominican brand is so popular. It's like saying the red dot cohiba is popular among aficionados because of the CC Cohiba. Beginners buy the Cohiba bc of the name but beginners aren't going to know about the CC Davidoff. It's been too long.
I think general disappontment is that the cigars lack complexty and flavor.

Davidoff's reputation has nothing to do with its Cuban origin. They don't advertise it and most people don't know that the brand was ever Cuban.

Buon Giorno

I can see why you have 6491 posts, if what you do is cut-and-paste quotations. here is one for you:

Why did you post this in the Cuban Cigar Room then?
