I just had a Boli PC from a 50 cab dated GKI JUN 04 and it was awesome. The flavor was so intense that I just couldn't believe it. From the very beginning the flavor was full and deep, but never harsh. It tasted like a vintage smoke.

I have also enjoyed the BBF in the past. The Bolivar flavor profile fits me like a glove. Very unique at times. Can anyone recommend another Bolivar to try? I mean, if these marevas and BBFs are this good, what else have I been missing out on for so long?

Well I would say that the petit corona cab selection that have been produced since the begining of the year are really increbidly terrific and if I had to compare those to another cigar from the Bolivar range hmmmm it would be probably the Coronas Gigantes cabinet selection because of the liquorice and sugar notes ...

I've had Boli pcs from 97, 98, 92, 03 & 04. Never had a bad one. Truly a "go to" cigar.

J-D you are speaking my language! I think the Boli CG will be my next foray into the world of Bolivar. There are quite a few Boli vitolas but you really only hear about the PC, RC, & CG. If the PC is so good (and it really was), then the CG must be dynamite!

I have also been thinking about the coronas extras. Any comparison to the PC?

Had last week a fresh (Jul04) Bolivar Royal Corona. Not only a good format, but a good blend and always a fine smoke.
The best is always the low price of these cigars... they are worth every cent.

The BCE is a nice format for those who like CGs... was the 50 cab of BPC banded?

The 04 BCEs are smoking wonderfully now. For a cigar that allegedly needs a lot of age, they're mighty tasty.

The PCs were all banded.

Are you suggesting I get the coronas extras too? Because I am crazy and I will do it!

I picked up (my personal favorite) a few Bolivar Coronas Cigantes the other day. These were more "box-pressed" in appearance and with a lighter medium brown wrapper (others have not been box-pressed and MUCH darker--Personally, I prefer a darker wrapper on ALL of my Cubans). In any event, this new batch need to "sleep" for a while in the Humi. But I still tried one and they are great [rated it a 90]...not as good as the darker ones, but still classic Bolivar.

BOLIVAR Gigantes are one of the best Cubans out there-- ALL of their Lines.

PS: I have NEVER had a GOLD Medal Bolivar (Lonsdale). Has anyone been fortunate to have purchased the much sought out "Gold Medal? Finally, I have heard that there is a Bolivar EL's. Has anyone tried the Bolivar EL--IMO this would be a "POWER-HOUSE CUBAN SMOKE!!! Big Grin

Bolivars.

I certainly enjoy the BBF but then again who does not. I just got an excellent box.

With PCs I have a different tune.
First bolivar I smoked was a tubo from the Club Amigo humidor in Varadero.

Until then I'd been an Upman Corona Major smoker. New to cigars I was.

I thought that the Boli was terribly strong, It did have a bad uneven burn but it was the power that astounded me. Even today I still remember it well. Was it me or was it an harshe or high powered boli?

FYI, the Boli RC is probably the mildest cigar in the Bolivar line. It has nowhere near the intensity of the BBF, BPC, BCE or BCG. A very good cigar but more subtle than the others.

Thanks, Doc. I am going to get a box of '02 coronas gigantes based on your observations (I like the darker and rounder smokes too). I ordered another GKI JUN 04 PC 50-cab yesterday. I think I will also order another dress box of GKI JUN 04 BBF's too as the date codes are the same so i am hoping they are as awesome as the PC's. Then, maybe a 50-cab of coronas extras just to put the icing on the Bolivar cake.

After a week or two of smoking my non-cuban stash I decided enough is enough and ripped out by Bolivar Royal Corona that I've had in my box for about 4 months....

INCREDIBLE AS ALWAYS!!!

Beautiful burn....I mean as consistent as I have seen, awesome draw and full of flavor. It packs quite a punch.

One of my alltime favorites.

Sorry, I couldn't disagree more. I keep all of these cigars in my regular rotation, except the BBF, which I have never tried, and to me the RC is the strongest, most in your face cigar in the line. It doesn't have the subtlety or the complexity of the others but seems to stand alone with its one dimensional profile. Very strong and tasty but seems to come on a little too strong when compared to the others mentioned.

Well_Armed, your welcome. I just finished a Boli--the boxed-pressed one--this was my second one. It was very good, but the darker ones from the older bach are better, I must admit. However, the recent purchase of the "box-pressed" Bolivar are just fine. Can't go wrong w/ the Bolivar line of Cuban's. Again, they are my personal favorite smokes Big Grin

'03 and '04 productions have been alot better than the old ones. I have had '98, '99 and '01 smoked them lately (4+ years of age) and they were amazing. Put those fresh smokes to rest and remember me in 4 years.

The rich get richer and the poor get the picture.
