...what i mean by "c" list is the lessor know, cheaper current production.marca's such as quintero, belinde, cabanas, jose piedra,la flor de cano, los statos delux,troya...has anybody had any luck with these, can you recommend something.

i've only tried the piedras, and i'm a big fan, great value and bettor then alot of high end NC's IMO.....

P.S.i didn't list guantanamera, cause everybody i know, even a couple vendor friends say they suck donkey balls.

You'll have a hard time selling me on the old "even a bad Habano is better than a great non-Cuban" argument. Jose L. Piedra, for example, is a roughly constructed, one dimensional and slightly coarse tasting cigar. Sure, it has that distinctive Cuban flavor, but so what?

I understand what you're saying though. In my experience, the difference in price between C-list cigars like Partagas Presidentes and A-list cigars like Partagas Serie P No 2 isn't worth the few bucks difference. Trying to save a few bucks by going to the D-list with Stratos de Luxe and junk like that is even siller when you can have Romeo or Partagas Mille Fleur for literally a few bucks more. My advice: avoid every brand you mentioned. Not only are they harsh, they often don't draw.

There are really no bargains anymore on the A-list stuff either...Diplomaticos No 2 are roughly the same price as Monte No 2 and H Upmann No 2 etc so better to smoke less and smoke better.

My brother and I smoked those Piedras you( frankluke) sent me. They had a though draw at first, but after about an inch the draw was great and the flavor really developed. I enjoyed it, and it paired well with the scotch we had (Dalmore Cigar Malt). It was a fun, inexpensive night

If price is such a huge consideration for you, I recommend that you try the machine made cigars from the better known marcas in preference to the marcas you mention. There are some very tasty bargains to be found. Among them are Partagas Chicos; H. Upmann Coronas Major in tubes; H. Upmann Regalia; RyJ Mille Fleurs; Ramon Allones Bits of Havana; and Por Larranaga Panetelas.

There are some 96 Los Statos Brevas floating around that are quite tasty & well under $100. Probably pretty rough when fresh, but similar to a RyJ Cazadores now.
