My stash is a combination of both ordering online and purchasing from a local shop that I trust. Since they lowered the taxes from 185% to 95% on Cigars here in Edmonton the prices should all be changing right away.

Prices range from shop to shop but just to give you an idea of the average prices here in Edmonton of some the sticks that I see in the shops:

BBF's - $30.00
Bolivar RC's - $30.50
Monte #2's - $32.00
Monte #4's - $21.00
PSD4's - $28.00 (They dropped in price a bit)
PSD2 EL - $33.00
Siglo VI $56.00 (Pyramides EL are the same price in most stores)
HDM Pyramides EL - $36.00

Right on J-P!
The lunch club is similar to the Choix (and a lot cheaper) but the lunch takes 1/3 to get some flavour while the Choix starts off right away. Still, for double the price, what do you think? Love em both but rather have 2 times the Lunch (or Petites even better).

As for the Siglo I.. that's my BABY!!! Handle it with care Smile Damn the I is the best or like I used to say, my mistress, or in french as my buddies love hearing me say... SALLLL-UP! I smoke'em to the nub, my fingers usualy start to burn then I "stop drop and roll"!!!

Ohh, DELAMONT: My GF has family in Geneve. Might actually drop by there in the next year... we should keep in touch. And the prices here at too damn expensive. Trip to cuba pays for itself around here.

I'm loving this forum, all these Canadians from all over posting. Makes me want to go home and dring a Molson Canadian... actually drink anything!!

Cuban Cigar + Crown Royal + Sun + Balcony = Perfect Day.

DevineRight,

Is that tax cut just in the 'chuck, or all over Alberta? I've just got back from holidays and haven't been in a cigar store for the past few weeks.

Last cigar that I bought was a Monte #2 at 38 bucks.

38 bucks for a monte#2? wow I thought prices were bad here. Same stick here is around 28. monte#4 same deal 17. Are you including the taxes or are these prices before taxes?

gotch,

That was the price I paid before walking out of the door. All taxes and GST included.

I'm going to drop by a cigar store later today or tomorrow to see if price have come down. Not that it matters much, I've got two trips to the middle east before the end of the year, so I'll be stocking up in Dubai.

So far prices have dropped twice since xmas. Small amounts 1-2 bucks. That is for most vitolas. Some actually increased also but again only by a couple bucks(notably high end sticks ie; Cohiba)

Marty Mix, well i don't know awhole bunch of places where i can get smokes in Cuba, but ill tell ya, they better be licenced, lol. My friends girlfriend, "got a great deal" lol, off the street. I told him straight up they were fake. When they came back, you should have seen his face when he smoked it. He started handing them out like candy cause of his disapointment.

No, i know not to pick off the street. Licenced.

Hey D, you didn't go on my site did ya? A few of us here know the marketing director for the Caracol stores in Cuba (Who sell REAL smokes, they are also called Casa del Tabaco). Basically you can reserve your boxes before you leave with him and he sends them to the store in your hotel. That way you get what you want for sure. Prices are the governement prices, check out his site that I posted on my site (think the link doesn't work, have to fix it). Also have the prices for cigars on my site too. Siglo VI, 11.45 each so expect the box to be $300 (singles are mathematically cheaper cause you don't pay for the box, no discount on buying bulk there Smile)

Hey guys, a quick question to pose to the rest of you Canucks. What would a handmade solid wood humi be worth to you? I am looking at having a couple made to trade for cigars. I guess I am just curious approximately what it might be worth to you?

Size would be about 14*8*6 solid mahogany with spanish cedar lining, brass hinges, no hygro. Let me know what you think as I am playing this deal from several angles (wheeling and dealing). Im not looking for money, I would just trade them straight up for some primo cigars Smile

Fisher... Well I was in Cuba and they sell homemade humidors pretty cheap there. I picked one up for J-P since he was so generous to me before I left. Cost me... $20US I think. About the same size that you said without anything in it. Honestly, I don't think you'll be able to trade much. Most of the people who would be interested probably live in the states and wouldn't want to let go of they're primo cigars (unless non-cuban). Plus some of these guys who have primo cigars have primo humi's. I saw some kick-a$$ humi's at Quantum's store the other day.. $500! I wouldn't risk it. You might end up with a dozen humi's and no cigars to put in them. Ask a friend to get you Cubans when they go to cuban and get what you want for cheap. My 2 Canadian cents worth 1.43 cents US today Smile

Slyck, that tax break is Alberta wide so the price of cigars SHOULD be dropping around the province but that doesn't mean that all shops are going to do so.

Fisher, all you really need is one decent humidor that has been properly set up. You put your "smoke now" cigars in the humidor and you can use Coolidors that you can make for less than $30 bucks each to store the rest.

I'd rather spend my money on cigars than an expensive humidor.

Coolerdors are the answer for storing your boxes they are cheap and work great. Been using one for about a year now. Have a desk top for singles. The coolerdor seals so well the humidity doesn't fluctuate much and you don't need much to humidfy either. Cool

same as other guys ...i would rather buy expensive seagars and use a cooler or two.
but when the time comes it will probably be a "vinotemp-cigar mate 700"...nice piece of furniture and room for 6000 cigars.

derrek Smile
