After some luck for Jamaica, the Caymans and Cuba, where the damage from Ivan COULD HAVE been a lot worse, let's keep our fingers crossed for New Orleans, its resident external Markist (eternal Marxist, whatever it is he is...), Cubadude and Mrs. Cubadude, Fidel and Mrs. Fidel, and the host of others in the area.

Called a friend down there who flew in earlier today from Washington, D.C., and who lives only about 45 minutes from the airport in New Orleans...he reports that, because of all the evacuations taking place, he's been on the road for over 4 hours, and is still a ways away from home.
