I was wondering how everyone kept their hands off of their first few boxes of cuban cigars? I am really new to them, however I think I could really be hooked. The only problem is letting them rest for years is going to be a problem.

I recently bought some Monte #4s and have already ordered more because I'm smoking them like they are going out of style. At this rate I won't be able to afford setting any amount aside to age. HELP!

I guess it may be time to learn some self control in this area, or expand my cigar budget Wink.

Oh yeah - since most of you probably thought I was going to ask you what your first cigars were, I will go ahead and ask. What were your first cigars, cuban or not, if you can remember them? I think mine may have been a Macanudo toro or maybe it could have been a Diablo - I remember smoking those once in a while before I ever had my own humi.

My first Cuban was a PSD#4....talk about being spoiled. I ordered a box of those that were on special and went through them quickly. I have about 7 left from that box and they have just about a year of age on them now and they are FANTASTIC! I want to order another Cuban but just can't decide what to get myself and I know I have the same issue of letting them age some. I can't stand looking at them in my humidor and not firing them up!

You could always try to find a box or two with age on them and smoke those as your newer ones are aging.

My first cigar was a Cuban R&J Mille Fleur. Was good as a starter, but grew out of it quickly.

i in the same situation as you are man. i have really just hid them away in my house where they are not in plain site. i end up forgetting about them for weeks at a time. a little self-control on my part had also gone a long way Wink

as far as my 1st smoke. will never forget it...Ashton Classic Churchill...almost made me sick. inhaled way too much.

J thats sound great, I just wish my wallet and storage could handle that. I usually put the box and about 15 away for aging and the rest in a desk top where they may stay for awhile, but are readily available. The First 15 are off limits. If its in a 50 cab I put away about 35-40.

The funny thing about storage is that no matter how much of it you get, it finds a way to fill up very very quickly... something odd is going on here Wink

Sounds about right. I think I need another Havana Footlocker for the back of the closet. Or maybe I'll try the coolerdoor idea. Elaw has a pretty good idea about putting a set amount off limits, I think I'll try that too. Next time.

The havana foot lockers are a pretty inexpensive storage solution if you like keeping your stuff in a cedar humidor. You can usually find the "imperfects" for about $100 or so. Personally I have been able to store about 10-12 boxes of 25 in one of them.

My first Cuban cigar was an 03 Montecristo #4. I really enjoyed it, but for some reason, I smoked domestics for the next year. Then, one day a trusted friend sent me a Choix, and I was hooked. Every since then I've been smoking about 85% Cubans as I try to dwindle my NC supply. It just takes that one cigar at the right moment to make the hobby that more special.
