Has anyone ever smoked a Cuban Davidoff? I was wondering if anyone can tell me what they thought of it... what size... how they got it... and how much they paid...

I'm not looking for a source... I'm sure it's far out of my price range... just the story of how you obtained it and what you thought of it...

Keep on smokin...

There are some sources that still sell them. Mostly for 100+ a stick, and they are still very good. From what I hear though most of the real good ones have all been smoked.

for all the pleasures, for the nose, the palate, the fingers, the eyes... A good
cigar contains the promise of a totally pleasurable experience."

the "younger" ones from the late 80's and 1990 seem to be in better shape than older ones.Cuban Davidoffs are usually very fine cigars (for example the Nr.1 or the Dom Perignon) buty not really worth the premium price they demand.
You can get quiet a lot on the net (from good and trustworthy sources) but they are expensive. If you really are after them , save some money and attend one of the cigar auctions at Christies (you can bid via phone or fax as well).Because the guys that sell this stuff on the net usually buy them form the auction,so you may as well go straight to the source.

Price for a box of Davidoff DP are around 3000.-- Pounds (was around 5000.-- for quiet a while) and a box of Nr.1's around 600 - 800 Pounds at the auction.

they are very good smokes generally speaking, but for that kind of money the dunhills are better smokes all the way through.different and better in my oppinion.Davidoffs are still classics and great and all that but the Dunhills have held up better over the years.

...I have both, and believe they are both a class unto themselves. Price for such cigars are not really arguable. As each one is smoked, each unsmoked one becomes more valuable.

I enjoy the Dunhill Cabinetta and the Davidoff No.1's and 2's.

Remember, where, when and how you obtained the cigars impacts the price. Not everyone has to go the commercial route.

I was given a fair share of No1`s and i must say they are not worth what they are asking on the web. Some of mine had a bit of a firm draw. Fabulous taste with milk choacolate coffe and leather all mixed in with a slight spice. Great tasteing smoke but i have had recent cigars with only four or five years of age i liked just as well. I might consider trading one if you have something interesting to offer.

I have smoked one that was gifted to me by a fellow Marine on this board (If he is reading this drop me a line I have that 98 Trini for you.) It smoked like a dream and I might kill someone for a cabinetta.

Truly a class unto itself.

It was a figure of speech, better let that be known before the locals come with a lynch mob. LOL

No. 91 was the last production year.

By the way, Nee claims that the Chateau Haut-Brion are smoking best right now (by consensus). I wouldnt know, unfortunately I have never tried one. Frown

He doesnt seem to like the No 1 or 2 very much, describing them as "bland" without much complexity. Of course taste is subjective.

A Cuban Davidoff has always been on my list, but since I thought they stopped being made in 1980, I never sought one out. I guess I'll look around now...
