"Smoke on the Water" at Bishop's Landing in downtown Halifax (it right on the harbour). If Paul likes you, you can sit in his lounge and smoke - it's the nicest I've ever seen.
There used to be a cigar store connected to the Delta Barrington on the lower level. Check with the concierge to see if it is still around. Pretty decent selection if I recall..
Delta Barrington is very close to the harbor. It is an easy walk. There is also another shop right down the street on Barrington street. I forget the name, but it is right beside the Pogue Fado Pub. While you're in the city, check out 'Split-Crow' and the 'upper deck'... some of the best pubs around.
The hotel is ridiculously close to Smoke on the Water (so yes, you could probably walk there in under ten minutes). The other shop is Barrington Street Tobacconist; he's got an okay selection, but cigars are not his specialty; there is no lounge (it's more like a convenience store full of cigarettes, pipes, and gifts); and lastly, the humidor is pretty much an aromatic cedar-lined closet with a vinyl sliding door on the entrance. Stick to Smoke on the Water - you'll be VERY pleased.

Correct me if I am wrong but can I go in the humidor and look or does it have t be covered and I must tell the attendant what I want. Or is that only an Ontario rule?

The blackout rule only applies in Ontario to stores that sell tobacco that are not registered tobacconists. In short, no tobacconist is blacked out anywhere in the country - just corner stores and smoke shops that are considered variety stores; you just have to be 19 or older to enter. Don't worry, Smoke on the water is a tobacconist and open concept. Say hi to Paul for me.
The selection at Sobey's and Atlantic Superstore is abysmal. If you're particularly enamoured with Guantanamera, Don Tomas, Don Diego, Indian Tabac, and Te Amo, go ahead and fill your boots.

There is a Sobey's on Queen st that has a smoke shop right at the entrance. It is't amazing, but they have a decent selection of smaller CC... But Smoke on the water would be your best bet... beautiful shop and amazing location..
La Casa Da JWeb is only 3 hours away and probably has more stock than the shops in Halifax. Send me an email, let me know your travel plans and maybe we can meet up for a cigar. I have to go to Hali for business anyway, I may be able to time it while your there.

No...not at the hotel....but just a 5 minute walk a few blocks up on Barrington on the left.....(near or right next to the Fireworks Gallery jewellery store) walk in humi and cigars are at the back (just ask at the counter).
The Steak House is gone after the "no smoking in public places ban" came out....kinda dumb given that it's a cigar bar and all.
Paul's place is your best bet. Sievert's sucks and you can't even smoke in the parks around here now. you might end up stuck in an underground parking lot smoking dodging all the crappy weather here. snow tonight
