Hello members. I have been smoking smoking cigars, Cuban and non-Cuban, for a while but am new to CA. Most of what I learned was by trial and error. I thought I had a lot of knowledge but after reading some of the posts it is obvious there is still much to learn. Hopefully being a part of this forum will bring additional knowledge.

Just wanted to say hello and introduce myself.

Looking forward to interesting conversations.

Welcome.

Good start.

Make sure you read "CA Policy on Cuban Cigar 'Sources'" by David Savona (first post in this section). After that everything should go smooth.

Which Cubans have you smoked?
What flavors or strengths do you like in a cigar, so far?
Do you have a size preference?

My two favorites are Monte Cristo #2 and Hoyo De Monterrey double corona.
I generally prefer a full bodied smoke and a large ring gauge (50 0r bigger.

The La Glolria Cubana Serie R #7 maduro makes a great smoke for the golf course.

In the future if you spell incorrectly or just want to change what you wrote, you can go to the Paper and pencil icon above the body of your response. click on that and you can make any changes you want. If someone reads your post before you make the change you will see the following printed on the bottom of post:

Sounds like you're off to a good start with your selection of Cubans. You couldn't have picked 2 more popular cigars. Unfortunately, I don't have any experience with La Gloria.

I don't normally smoke the larger cigars. They are for special occasions only. I keep Monte #2, Partagás Lusitanias in my humidor, but rarely smoke them. The Lusi was my wedding cigar, I smoke one every year on my anniversary.

Robustos are the largest size I smoke on a regular basis. PSD#4, El Rey Choix Supreme, Vegas Robaina Famoso, Ramon Allones Specially Selected (RASS).

Give these a try most are Med to Full bodied. You will see these recommended over and over on this forum.

Good luck, hope to here some reviews from you in the future. It's always good to hear fresh opinions here.

I don't think the Serie R Maduro is a Habano, is it?

Funny, I'm waiting on an order for MC2 and HM DC. My bands arrived (but no cigars). The vendor claims there is a new customs/taxation law, and that my cigars were held up but will arrive today or Monday. We'll see. In any event, my new Aristocrat humidor arrived today. I nearly got a hernia carrying it downstars (50 + pounds), but it looks great, and if the cigars do arrive on Monday it will be seasoned by then. This is a long winded way of welcoming the new poster, and saying I share his affinity for MC2 and HMDC. One last note: I smoked a Diplomatico 2 last night. Not my favorite cigar, alas. Too chewy, with a slightly sour, mealy flavor. I doubt any aging would have helped this bad boy.

I'm new here too, but I've, sadly, never smoked a cuban. Living in Moore Oklahoma like I do though I'm going and scouting out the LCDH here in downtown OKC. Man I can't wait to try the Kohiba goodness..... :~P

Punched:

The La Gloria Serie R is Dominican. It is nonetheless a great smoke. Full bodied and a nice range of flavors, starting with a little spice.

Just a little friendly advise, this is the Cuba & Cuban Cigar board. When people start discussing other things then sometimes it gets.....well interesting...but way off track of what I'm here for anyway, and that is still to learn more about Cuba & Cuban cigars.

Again, Welcome to the board!

Welcome to the forums, have fun.

There are La Gloria Cubanas from Cuba, too. But I don't hear too many people talking about them, so they may not be that good, or at least not very popular.
