So a new thought came into my mind last night while I was reviewing my next planned purchase. Am I better off getting one box of 1966 and one box of 520, or three boxes of 520 for about the same price?

Have you smoked either? Maybe try before you buy? If it was me, I'd get 3 cabs of BBF and let 50 of them get nice and old before smoking.

Or 120 Trini Reyes...

Or 125 RG PC....

Sure, or 1000 Minis or Clubs! What's up with people and small cigars?

Really they are both great, and if you do some aging your in for some good times down the road! I would buy at least a box of each.

I haven't smoked any of the two but if I had to choose, I would pick a box of each. Happy smoking! Smile

Have you tried any of Cubas smaller sized cigars? I used to scoff at them too, till I bought some Trini Reyes, Partagas Shorts and some petit corona boxes from different marcas. They WILL suprise you at how good they really are.

IIRC you are new to smoking cigars. I wouldn't go directly to expensive smokes even if they were automatically better. They aren't. You would probably be better off with a combo of monte 2s and BBFs. They are much cheaper and they are really hard to beat lately. But if you want those, and really want to know what I would do, I'd get variety. Unless you have a walk-in full of a wide variety of smokes and you want to fill in a spot, it doesn't make sense to stock up on one vitola or marca.

I'm curious to know why you landed on those two cigars, and what you have smoked so far.

Why would you even respond to that loser?

As good as some of cuba's small cigars can be, I feel they leave more on the table when compared to comparable larger cigars. It's personal preference though. Small cigars serve a purpose: limited time.

I know and you're right. It just feels weird to hold a tiny, small and thin cigar.

I agree, Monte 2, Monte 4, P2, D4, BBF, BRC, Upmann 46, etcetera.

That's what newbies usually do. Run after the hype. Luckily, this time the hype is worth it.

Very gentleman of you to call me names when you don't know me and wrongly associate me with others who create trouble here.

I have tried monte 2, psd4, psp1 as well as a couple shorts and behikes and I love them all really. But I'm the type of person that goes big. I want the best, period. I have cigars that are everyday smokes but I am a college kid, so when I do really well on an exam I like to celebrate. So if that means a $50 dollar cigar and some scotch then that's what I want. I' am also lucky enough to be getting all my education payed for at a private school because of academic scholarships. So all the money I make working I get to put towards cigars. If I have the money for some of the best smokes out there then I want to get them.

That's fine. But it's a waste of money. People that want to get into scotch don't just go out and buy a Macallan 25. They won't have a clue what they are drinking. Throw on top of that how reg production cubans are too often better than their high priced counterparts and ...

I agree. When I started ordering online, I went big. My first order was a box of Cohiba Sublimes 2004 EL when they first came out. Right after smoking the first stick, I bought a two more boxes, and still have 3/4 of the last box. Back then people were also posting how the Sublimes 2004 were a waste of money. They weren't.
I'd get one of each because the 1966's are awesome.

if you wanna "go big or go home" take 3 boxes of 520s. However I would follow JB-07's advise here.

Leo, I'm a young gun like yourself but alittle more seasoned at 31.

I myself just purchased both boxes and they are great.

Something to consider though...For the price of the 1966 box, you could get 3 boxes of the Monte Grand Edmundo LEs 2010, which are a great smoke and have a couple years of age on them. They are great.

Either way good luck
