OK, So I'm heading up to Vancouver (I live in minnesota) next weekend and wanted to pick up a cuban cigar or two while I was up there. I'm flying into portland and then driving up there, so the airport isn't an option. Anyone from the area and know any good shops? Also, what are some good value cubans? I was thinking maybe a Cohiba (I'll admit, I'm a relative newby and just saw them mentioned in the interview with Castro)
you know that you cant do that for being an American citizen that it is illegal to posses Cuban contaband, and furthermore be fined and put in jail if caught.
That out of the way, look for the Cohiba Millenium jars and grab a few

Hey Kent: You will be in for a surprise. Vancouver is COMPLETELY non-smoking and is raining non-stop this time of year - you will have no place to light-up. SECOND, here in Canada we are taxed up our ASSES on tobacco - expect to pay over $30 for any cigar in Vancouver. FINALLY, Montecristo #2 is the best cigar in the world. Partagas Serie D are also good. Print a copy of CF Cuban cigar ratings with you, and depending on your pocket-book and your ability to hide the cigars coming back across the border, go to town. Barry
It is not only illegal merely to possess items of Cuban origin, but also to spend US funds on items of Cuban origin, whether or not you are bringing anything back with you. One violation (spending money) is one violating the Trading with the Enemy Act. The other violation is smuggling (when you bring contraband into the US). Then you might also get popped for money laundering and copyright violation.
