I am planning to travel outside of US, and I was wondering could I buy a few boxes of Cubans and bring them back to America with me? Would I get them confiscated or what?

It's illegal. You'd probably be fine carrying a few sticks back (although that's illegal too), but a few boxes might be a little suspicious. If I were in your spot, I'd buy 2 of my top 6 or 7 wants and put them in a baggie and then put the baggie in my shoes.
Putting your cigars into your shoes is a great technique to turn quality Cuban cigars into shredded pipe tobacco.
Just look the customs agent straight in the eye, and in your best Jedi voice tone, tell them that these are not Cuban cigars. Some swirly hand waving may also be required.
Or buy some quality NC's and be safe.

Ahhh... come on. The ziplock bag should protect them from odors and the shoes will act as protection against breakage. You could buy tubos if you were that worried about your bag getting bumped around a lot. I brought my dad back a R y J tubo when I studied in Europe, and it turned out just fine.
It is illegal for an American to buy, posses, and sell anything that was made in Cuba after the embargo began. If you're just stopping in the US and leaving the country right away and aren't an American, I think they'll let a couple cigars slide by.

The answer to your first question is that, yes, you can...but it would be illegal.
The answer to your second question is yes, if you happen to get caught. If it were more than a box or two, I'm guessing that a confiscation would probably be the least of your worries.

I know that buying and smelling CC's is illegal but my best way was to just buy the boxes I wanted or needed and just ship them to myself a day before leaving a said country. And I would also ship in that same box, my dirty cloths, just mark off as content as Dirty Cloths and all purchased boxes are home when I get there too. Undamged and unopened.

I just brought some VR Unicos, & Cohiba Magico's and Siglo Vs back. I put several in two baggies and put them in each of my pant pockets after I got off the plane. Even if they search your bags you'll be fine.

As a U.S. Citizen, technically you are breaking the law. Americans can not buy, smoke, accept as gifts or use any product of Cuban orgin.
It depends on the customs agent. Sometimes they just waive you through without searching, other times they may search you. I can guarantee that if you had a box, they will confiscate them. If it's just a couple of sticks and they find them, just fess up to it or say something that you thought the embargo was eased since Fidel isn't in power. If you are lucky, the agent may cut you a break for being honest. The worst they are going to do is take them from you. Just don't try to BS them...they've heard all the excuses.
Do NOT remove the bands. This is a surefire way of getting them confiscated. They do not have to prove they are cubans...they just need to suspect they are. What you can try to do is bring some NC's with you and switch out the bands.

As long as customs doesn't search your package, your okay. However, if they do decide to open the package (probably having the same FROM and TO names may set off some flags), you're not only out cigars, you're out some laundry too. You'll receive a letter from OFAC. It supposedly looks realy nice in a gold frame on the wall.

Bring all you want. My friend works for Homeland Security, and he owes me money. If he confiscates your stash, he can give them to me!
