I was about to give you a hard time until I saw your note! Anyway congrats on the purchase, based on the date code and price I think we got ours from the same place. I am 99% sure mine are the same code, but I will double check.
I have not tried one yet. If you get to yours before me post your review! Congrats again, its a great feeling opening that beautiful box.
The Esplendido I believe is just a shadow of its former self. I dont think it is the jewel in the crown of Cohiba like it used to be and I have a hunch it does not get the best of the best raw materials they way it used too.
I couldn't disagree more. They are strong, bold, powerful, stunning smokes. They get the very best materials, no doubt about it.
If you are suggesting they aren't like they were, say prior to 1996, those who have considerable experience with such cigars say nothing is like it was prior to 1996.
As for current production, I can say without a doubt the newer Esplendidos are better than any I have smoked which would include as far back as 11 years.
The '06 Piramides are no doubt first rate as well. Enjoy them.
I discovered the EL's while I was in Italy last Summer and fell in love with them. They are smoking great right now but it's great to hear they are expected to improve over the next few years!!! I have 4 boxes to enjoy in my old age!
I haven't tried the Esplendido's but I've got two boxes sitting still in the paper for a special moment in the future

Just wait a couple years and try one of those LE 06's. What an incredible transformation. I couldn't believe it.
