Waiting for the bands? Oooookay. Not sure I understand but...
I would just leave the bands off anyway. There is something mysterious about a naked cigar! And yours look faboulous!

Presuming he lives in the USA, they remove the bands to get them through customs so they can't be identified as cubans then send them seperately. I agree that they look great, especially those Cohiba Robustos mmm.
