71, 88, 94, 61...does it really matter what the cigar was rated by a cA panel?
Going back to what Imperial Maduro says...well, I, for one, don't like the question, so the answer is...
smoke it yourself and YOU tell US!!! How the hell can anyone benefit from a subjective review with respect to a cigar that, 8 or more times out of 10, is a fake that the person is smoking anyway?
If, instead of people coming on here asking about what they should expect from a cigar, people smoke it and post their findings, then there could be a database of reviews of cigars...so when IM comes on here looking for information about a RyJ churchill from 10/03, there it is, and then once IM smokes it, IM can add to the review or start another thread about it.
Hey...the question was asked...

Assuming you beleive mine are real and have any relavence to how yours might taste. I thought they were great. Very deep earthy flavor i like. A hint of a mushroom taste with slight amount of spice but not spicy like a Partagas or Siglo. Mine were a dress box. Not a proffesional reveiw but thats what came to mind.

I have a box from 01 that has been one of my biggest dissapointments. From the 12 that I have smoked 10 have had major draw problems. I won't try one from that box again for quite a few years. I hope 10 years of age on them will make a difference.

That's not necessarily the case...some people prefer cigars from the DR. But with respect to US cigar smokers? AT LEAST 8 out of 10 are smoking fakes and haven't the faintest idea. The problem is that we in the US, by and large, do not have access to Cuban cigars, or information concerning them and we are often duped by internet dealers, street vendors on vacation, and so on, who tell us what we want to hear. Yes, those figures (AT LEAST 8 out of 10) are accurate. Who is smoking the real ones? People from everywhere else, pretty much.

Well, I just got a box with factory code ENH and DIC03 date code. 10 box of Tubos. I just took them out of the tubes and put them in the humi to sit for a bit. I will try one when my life insurance physical is complete, hopefully in a week or two.
Peace.

regardless of whether or not RyJ came down hard, he made a really good point. Smoke it, post your opinion, then ask for others. I wasn't in his camp on this when I first came to the boards, but after being here for a little bit and smoking more and more, I realize the validity of his argument. I haven't had the churchill, but it seems to be a fave in the RyJ lineup (the brand, not RyJ 7x47's). Why not just take the plunge and find out?

I have to support RyJ's statement here, but understand, NOT TO YOUR DETRIMENT! This is simply a point that RyJ feels compelled to make over and over, since it is logically unnerving to him. To me, however, the fact that he gets so many opportunities to make the same point is evidence enough that he is on to something. (or ON something) Quirky to some, but valid.
Let me digress and share something in no way directed at you. There are dozens of people on this board that are buying from vendors KNOWN to sell counterfeits. They seem to come in alot and ask why their EL's taste flat and don't burn properly. At least a half dozen have emailed me directly to ask my opinion on their vendor. When I tell them that they are getting hosed, I never hear from them again, or they tell me about a friend who has been ordering from so and so for years, and I don't know what I'm talking about. But their posts about their bad cigars go on. I know, relatively speaking, The Oct03 RyJCh should be alot better than 00, 01 or 02, despite the age benefit. Almost across the board, 03-04 smokes have shown a DRAMATIC improvement over previous years. With that said, I am no fan of the RyJ churchill. Personal taste only. But that opinion is based on older smokes that were so poor that I haven't seen fit to spend money on a 03-04 box. I am sure that there has been an improvement in taste and construction, tho.

RyJ the poster knows his stuff. His posts are well worth reading. As for the RyJ Churchill, never one of my favorite cigars. The few I've had left me underwhelmed UNTIL, I tried a couple from JULY 04. These babies are rich flavored & most enjoyable. Had to get the box.
I really don`t know for sure. Those RyJCh tubos and all that cedar aroma. Really not for me. Yet some friends love the thing. They all talk of two, three, four year aging. But WTF to I know.
QM Quality does not occur by chance. It is the result of intelligent activities.
